-False alarms, definitely the most frustrating aspect! We seem to get breathing alarms on the nights when the baby is fussy and we’re already super sleep deprived. It seems like as soon as I fall asleep or get the baby to fall asleep the breathing alert goes off and I panic, jump out of bed, and grab the baby. She is always breathing. So I unswaddle her, unbutton her onesie, and low and behold the Sense-U is exactly where I clipped it on the center of her diaper near her belly button. I bought this so that I could get more sleep and have peace of mind, instead it’s doing the opposite and giving me more anxiety yet I don’t feel like I can stop using it. Some nights it has alarmed 5 or more times, all of them false alarms.
-After 2 weeks of use the clip is already start to get loose and then I won’t be able to secure it to her diaper.
-Despite the frequent false alarms, when I get up to change her diaper and forget to disconnect from the app it sometimes takes MINUTES for a low movement alarm to go off when it is sitting on the changing table and no longer attached to her. It makes me afraid that if, god forbid, there ever was an episode of not breathing, it wouldn’t alert me fast enough for me to intervene which is obviously the reason I purchased it. How can it have frequent false alarms while simultaneously NOT alarming when it’s sitting on a non-moving surface for multiple minutes???
-if you have a moving bassinet (we have the 4moms bassinet but I know the Snoo and lots of other bassinets also have movement features) you won’t be able to use those aspects of the bassinet if you want to use this device. We have the 4moms bassinet in our living room and a non-moving bassinet in our bedroom but I wish it was possible to use this device while we have the movement features on in the 4moms bassinet during naps. It also says in the instructions that if you co-sleep this device won’t work because it will pick up mom and dads movement and you won’t know if baby stops breathing. I was hoping it would be extra protection if I ever fell asleep nursing my daughter in bed but obviously that won’t work out. If you plan on using a moving bassinet at night or co-sleep then this device isn’t for you.
-you can only connect to one phone, so if you and your partner take shifts at night to care for the baby you’ll have to share the same phone. It should connect to at least 2 devices!
-the roll over alert isn’t accurate, we’ve had a few false alarms for a roll over and I’ve assumed it has come unclipped but that is never the case. The temperature aspect also doesn’t make sense…the only part in contact with baby’s skin is the clip itself so it’s just sending the temperature near the baby.
Overall this is a great idea but it needs improvement. It has so many good reviews I question if I’ve received a unit that doesn’t function properly since we’ve had so many false alarms that weren’t caused by user error. Sadly I think we’ll have to return it and invest in one of the pricier options.
My sensor did disconnect sometime last time which I emailed about this morning. I dont know how long it was actually on before that, I never checked my phone through the night.
Besides that, when the device was connected it worked perfect. My main concern is rollovers as its a new trick for my lo and this works great for that. She is really wiggly at night from side to side and I never got a false roll alarm it just shows they are on the side.
I wore the sensor myself for a while to make sure it didnt get hot and to see how everything worked before putting it on her and it was great. I dont trust the temp reading to be correct unless ur baby sleeps in only a diaper tho so I turned that off. I also noticed while watching my baby sleep that her stomach hardly moves when shes really asleep so I turned the breathing alarm off as well because I didnt want false readings all night. I did use the breathing during a nap and it seemed to work just fine though.
For me just knowing it would alarm when she rolled to her tummy was enough to make me actually sleep last night. But like I said it did disconnect at some point which Im hoping there is a fix for thankfully I didnt notice it until the morning though.
For me, I know my lo is going to be ok every night but first time mom who has to worry about everything so this sensor really put me at ease last night. Even after knowing it disconnected id still recommend it to anyone worrying because it does just give you that little bit of peace for a lot cheaper of a price than some other stuff out there. We originally bought an owelet and after reading that it burns babys foot never ended using it so finding this was great for us.

We must say it was really accurate when he was sitting up, laying down, etc. Very happy with how quick the app would show the readings. Excited to see how well all the other features work on our new addition later!
The battery life is suppose to last 30 days at a time.
