Our cats got this as a Christmas gift. It’s January 2 and they have already started pull the strip that secures the wrap that is around the scratching post off. This means they will soon have the post dismantled. After paying what we did for this item and to have it falling apart already is a huge disappointment. We will be returning this item.

I've purchased several cat trees over the years. This is by far the best one so far. I hadn't tried this brand before. We'll see how it does for longevity. My kitties love it too!

This tree is actually a raised bed with scratching post and pedestal; I've noticed the reviews are currently mixed with other cat furniture.

I wasn't happy with how this went together. I had to make a hole in the fabric on the pedestal. Next, after tightening the top, I noticed the threaded retainer in top had worked out enough to feel it through the cushion even installed. The cushion requires some work to install and tighten; I had to pull 2 ends of a rope down to tighten. Then keep pulling the bunched ends of fabric around the circular top, evenly, where rope passes through in order to keep pulling tighter until tight enough to secure to top. This looks it could be revisited to tighten more after the cat had used it. Tucked the rope ends in after tying to keep cats from playing with it. I think a zippered quick install and removal would have been convenient here. Some more work required each time removed to clean. Minor issues that in the the end aren't noticed unless you probe the cushion at center; likely the cat doesn't notice raised bump being center and cushioned.

I'm still unsure if my adult cat can trust it in the open yet (jumping on a small top). She went right to it when I pushed it near my full sized car tree so she could walk over and climb in. Catnip works just fine to overcome the inhibition to try something new. It hasn't found its place yet so I thought I should mention the concern beforehand.

Size for an adult cat is another concern. My cat doesn't seem to complain but she also likes to sleep and rest on various places. I had hopes to get her off the furniture and carpets with this. But gets some use. My existing cat tree didn't have a padded sleeper so this was a good idea to try. Just checked; she's using it again. She only gets catnip on this bed now.

I may revise this review in time as the unknowns and use are realized.

The MidWest Cat Tree is quick and easy to put together. It is much heavier then I expected, and seem to be made really well. I love the idea of being able to take off the bed to clear. The downside is it feels like the material doesn’t come down far enough to stay on securely, and the cats play with the tie. As you can see from the picture, when they cat lays down the sides collapse. Hopefully the cat won’t fall out.

This cat tree arrived yesterday and before I could put it together, our cats were already exploring it and going into the hutch. They haven't stopped climbing on it or sitting on the perches. The tree is very easy to assemble, make sure you read the instructions as there are specific bolts for certain places. It tightens up well and is very sturdy and stable. The tree is rather large-ish so make sure you put it in an area with plenty of room. Both of my cats love all the various perches and the hutch. There is a ball on a string that can be placed on the main pillar, easily attached with two small screws. You will need a Philips head screwdriver to put the ball onto the pillar, otherwise everything else is easily attached with the included Allen wrench. A great tree, easily assembled, and approved by my two cats.
