All Blues, the forthcoming covers album from the Peter Frampton Band, is set for release on June 7 via UMe. The album is a collection of Frampton's favorite blues classics and was recorded with his longtime touring band, made up of Adam Lester (guitar/vocals), Rob Arthur (keyboards/guitar/vocals) and Dan Wojciechowski (drums). All Blues was recorded at Frampton's home studio in Nashville, Studio Phenix, and was co-produced by Chuck Ainlay and Peter Frampton. Now available for pre-order on 2 LP vinyl featuring bonus track I Feel So Good and album art etching on side D.

So, All Blues?....hmmm, not exactly, because, as you'd expect from our Peter that there would be some touches of Jazz, and certainly there is BUT, I have no issue with this at all as it ain't the cat running across the keyboards type of jazz, no siree, it is far more cerebral and therefore enjoyable and while there are plenty of "guest "players upon the 10 tracks on offer here, I would have paid the asking price just for The Thrill Is Gone for the enigmatic slide playing of one Sonny Landreth....goodness me but there is no mistaking the man's playing …. but it's not just that, it is the way that Mr Landreth (as indeed do all the guests) compliment the beautiful playing of Mr Frampton - indeed, if this proves to be the man's last outing due to his medical condition, then he has certainly gone out on a high (but here's hoping that there is still more to come!) - look forward to catching the final tour too!
If you like the man and his music, then this wil certainly compliment your collection - but if you are new to him, then this is an excellent place to start and to back track from!!
I only got to play this last Sunday, it's now Tuesday night. Oh. Make that ridiculous early Wednesday.
I literally ripped off the plastic film, and slapped it into a cd player. No looking at the playlist.
Answer to the question. It depends on mainly two things. Who is recording. The source of the material and its history.
On this album there's Peter Frampton and band. Pedigree right there. The songs, they go way back in time to not so much. I'm not going to go through track by track, but track one had me interested, track two I was sitting up and singing along, hooked. (Remember the Blues Brothers doing this one on a live album)
This album is a real treat to anyone who is a Frampton fan, and/or a classy classic blues fan.
