I wanted to try this because of the reviews and I'm not really painting my nails. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I completely failed the first time, I don't think I let it dry enough. But the second time I was a lot better. Practice makes perfect.

After much research and wondering I settled on this brand of dip powder (as much as Kiara Sky seems lovely, its pricey for a starter). I'm very happy with the kit. Application is very simple, instructions were easy to follow, the "side products" such as the nail file and brush are good quality so allow for a good, clean finish. I am by no means good at doing my nails and opted for dip powder as polish always chips on day one pretty much and I generally make a mess of it.
What I like most is that you have control over how thick you want to go, something I've always disliked about acrylic in even good salons is my nails always feel thick and heavy, this is not the case here.
I did do one nail first and let it harden simply to try and remove the product, I did this with a piece of foil and acetone soaked cotton round after having buffed some of the top layers off. It came off as an acrylic would, with patience! It was however not difficult to remove.
I cannot stress enough that if you do not have patience to soak this off at home and are not prepared with the right products to soak off at home, then go to a salon. Treat this like acrylic. Prep the nail properly, work clean and remove gently so as not to cause damage. I don't believe this product will damage the nail, it's more about how you treat your nails during the process from application to removal and care, allowing for some rest in between applications.
I do a lot of housework and haven't had any chipping yet, I do however wear gloves to wash dishes.
I dropped one star as the colours are not as vibrant as shown in the image. The top coat is very tacky, do not get this on your skin as it's like a glue, but this does mean it dries in seconds.
Overall very happy with the product and will happily purchase a darker dip powder from this brand in future.
I got this kit about 5 days ago and have done 2 sets. I put the first on over natural nails and then soaked them off and redid them,
adding tips for length. Both ways, they worked beautifully, and on the second I mixed another brand powder with the powder and liquids from this kit with no issue (ignore the messy cuticles in the pic, they’re from buffing on the unicorn powder and my poor cuticles are too sensitive after two sets to really scrub it out yet).
Packaging was very nice, tidy and secured all items very well, on par with higher-end, expensive kits like Kiara Sky. Kit included FIVE liquids (as compared to the three or four found in many “value” kits, including a handy brush cleaner), four powders, a good two-grit, file, a buffer, a small wood cuticle pusher and cuticle oil. Really a one stop shop!
There is some technique involved in getting a nice application. I’m a former nail tech, from what feels like a lifetime ago, but this was my first attempt at dipping my own nails and I’m quite pleased. My tips:
-Don’t try to mix the colors by layering, they’re not at all opaque and do not mix. The first time I tried applying pink over the red, thinking I may get more of a fushia, but it didn’t work out. However, on the second try, I mixed some of the glitter powder in with another brand’s purple and some of the “unicorn powders” and it worked wonderfully. So, if you do mix, do it in powder form, before application.
-Keep the base liquid as thin as possible and if you coat the free edge, come back and brush over the top or you may end up with a big lump at the end of the nail.
-Do two coats of activator to make sure the powder is fully hardened and tap with your file to make sure you hear it hardened before filing. If not fully hardened, it will gum up and you’ll have to redo.
-If you need to do more than 3 dips, after the third, activate, file, and then add bond again before dipping the fourth. More than 3 at once gets too thick so it doesn’t harden properly and gets gummy. It helps to take off some of the bulk after the third and try to keep the fourth as thin as possible. But you CAN re-dip after activating, just be sure to re-file and bond so that there is a rough surface to grab on to.
-The top coat feels like a nail glue if you touch it. It dries fast but needs 3-5 mins to fully set. It doesn’t dry tacky like a gel top, but I was still able to buff over a unicorn powder finish. If you have to do 2-3 top coats, give them up to 10-15 mins to fully dry and know that with the glue like consistency, they will imprint if anything touches them before fully dried.
-If you use a drill, try the lowest settings if possible, and keep a very even, sweeping motion from side to side. If you hold too long in one place or try to drill more specifically without ‘the sweep,” you may end up with visible file lines.
Very happy I made the purchase, highly recommended!
I would totally recommend to purchase if you are creative, patient, and like to save money.
Process was about an hour on myself since it was harder to work on my right left, being that it’s my dominant hand.
What you see in the photos is the Azure product applied over my tips with acrylic. I tried the Azure as a fill since I still had a 3-week old set and didn't have the money to buy a box of tips. What I noticed is that this product didn't seem to set up as quickly as I had seen on some videos, which I believe was due to my having acrylics on. I'm sure my results would've been much better if I'd started with new tips but as you can see it worked astonishingly well.
I think anyone can use this kit and have great results.
A couple of tips that I didn't do and would do next time:
Definitely read and re-read all the instructions (printed very nicely on a glossy, durable pamphlet) that are very clear and complete included with the kit. Watch the videos on YouTube and watch a couple of different ones so you can get a feel for using the product.
A little goes a long way! Especially the activator and top coat.
Try one nail first so that you can work out your timing for the product set up.
Be careful with your cuticles!
Have a couple of towels because there is quite a bit of dust but it's easy to clean up.
Use the oil afterwards.
This system was easy to use. I may have gotten the product a little close to my cuticle line and had to file quite a bit in those areas, on my next application I’ll be sure to stay a bit away.
The one thing I did that the instructions did not say to do was I washed my hands (no soap, water only) right before the top coat. This is how my salon does it and prevents any remaining activator from gumming up your top coat.
I am excited to see how well it holds up and whether or not it chips or cracks and I will update if anything negative occurs.
NICE PRODUCT! The entire kit was less that I pay for one dip manicure at the salon.
Disclosure: the holographic nail polish on my ring finger is not part of the kit, it’s just a regular polish that I painted over the dipped nail. Regular polish over dip does not chip like it does on a natural nail and lasts just as long as the dip powder stays on.
I highly recommend this for beginners! I've already purchased other color powders from this brand.
1. Buff out shine on nails and file nails first
2. Wash hands throughly with soap and dry with paper towels
3. After you read the steps to apply your layers of powder, file the powder with the 100/180 to smooth out ruggedness. The powder should feel smooth to the touch. Keep file flush to the nail at all times while smoothing. This step comes between applying the activator and before applying the top coat.
My favorite thing about these polishes is that you don't need to pile on layer after layer and coat after coat a to get amazing results. You can use one coat and be completely done or you can use two coats for a more dramatic finish. I used one coat to see what it would look like and then I used a second coat, both methods gave me great results it all just depends on your mood and the look you want. I also used the sponge method and that changed my opinion...of course the sponge method made the polish pop even more because it was all glitter!
I think these polishes are perfect because you can use them as glam for an accent nail, or you can use them for your tips or you can use them on top of your favorite colors to add some extra fancy detail. What you can create with this set of gel polishes is limitless!!!
This polish reminds me of the Kardasian kolors OPI collection from years ago. The glitter in these polishes are just like the Kardashian opi glitters only here you get 6 colors for a much better price! I can't wait to use these glitters with my spring and summer nail sets!
Everything dry quickly
Top coat is very glossy
Easy to apply
-It comes with everything you need.
-Half the price of some other kits.
-Includes 3 colors AND clear powder.
-Nice sized jars.
-Photo instructions are easy to follow and quickly reference.
-It may take longer than 2 minutes for the activator and top to dry.
A few notes:
-Make sure your product is thoroughly dry before filing.
-Brush the excess off GENTLY.
-If you notice your brushes getting stiffness use the brush saver immediately. It works! Just put the offensive brush in the brush saver for a few hours or even over night.
-The topcoat is almost like a glue, so it is perfect to hold your stones (if you bling your nails).
-The liquids do work with other powders beautifully.
This is a great kit to get you started with dip powders!
