5.0 out of 5 stars Good, solid battery isolation switch.

I bought this to prevent small current drains from killing the battery on my 25ft travel trailer while it was in storage. Much easier than disconnecting a battery lead each time!
The switch is a good, heavy duty design. I wanted to mount it so that I could shut off the battery power from the outside of the battery box. I didn't know if the supplied mounting screws would be long enough. Happily they are. I have a group 27 battery box with a group 24 battery. There was easily enough room to fit the switch inside the box and still fit the battery. The switch fit perfectly through a 2" hole and the supplied screws were long enough to secure it. I used 4 stainless steel washers from the local hardware store to complete the installation. A bead of silicon secured the back cover of the switch to make a nice, waterproof installation.
One safety note. If using this on a trailer, it should be in the "off" position ONLY when the trailer is being stored! If you attempt to tow the trailer with it "off" position, two bad things can happen:
1. Your tow vehicle can't charge your trailer battery.
2. In the event of a trailer separation, the trailer brakes will not come on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, does the job, and looks okay too

Arrived quickly. Installed on side of the single plastic Battery Box (using negative wire). Install was fairly easy, biggest time was lining up drilling the holes into the plastic box. I also removed the battery from the box so it would be easier to put in the screws and tighten the provided nuts properly. Easy to attach the negative wire . You will need to purchase another cable to run from the cutoff switch the the actual battery. Had no issues, worked first time. Great to have this for storage purposes and just in general so you can entirely shut off the electrical and avoid battery drain. Remember to turn on when hooked up and traveling, otherwise trailer lights, electric brakes, and charging the battery while driving will not take place.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to hook an Ampper battery swi! NICE AMPPER battery switch! Well built, simple(ON and OFF) switch
Reviewed in Canada on 17 November 2019

I just like this Ampper battery switch. I bought it as a gift for my brother who as cancer. (multiple Myolema) I would like to hook it inside his car as he has difficulties with the sensors in his car.(dead battery). I would have like to make it a DIY but would have require more instructions. Went on Google for a search on how to install but getting mixed infos. I know it should not be difficult such a hooking it to the -(negative wires to the Ampper battery switch then another cable from the battery switch to the -negative post. Attach the two cables with lugs to the Ampper battery switch inside the car through the fire wall. Make sure both the
Pos.+ -Neg. battery wires are unhooked before starting the project for safety reasons. Am I missing something???
I would appreciate installations infos. Tks.! Have a nice day!

+pos. and -Neg. car battery cable are off before carrying this work for safety measure

1.0 out of 5 stars Dangerous product

I need to use the switch close to it’s max specs (about 50A below it).
The switch heats up quickly and creates voltage drops.
This is a fire hazard and very dangerous, I would not trust this so it was returned.
In the case of this switch, ignorance is bliss, if you don’t measure and test it, you assume that all is ok and you may be happy.
I tested a different brand and it works flawlessly.

5.0 out of 5 stars no more dead battery on my camper
Reviewed in Canada on 7 July 2019

my camper has a smoke and carbon monoxide detector in it that never turns off. it would kill my deep cycle battery in 3 days. I installed this cutoff switch easily right to the outside of my battery box and hooked up the leads on the inside. I works perfectly. No more dead batteries. and its easy click on and off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great on a battery box

Size: 1-2-Both-OffVerified Purchase
I've added a 54ah and 23ah LifePO4 battery into a MinnKota Power Center battery box. I plan to use the 54ah battery for a trolling motor (for backcountry camping) and the 23ah for other purposes and as a backup. This switch (1-2-Both-Off) is perfect for changing the batteries without having to rewire when using them. The switch has an off position which is great for disconnecting the batteries when not in use. There is a noticeable click when changing settings so it's clear the switch has reached the right setting. I haven't used it yet to run the trolling motor but plan to do so this coming summer.

To install this on the battery box, I drilled a 2 inch hole (with a hole saw) in the corner of the battery box cover where there was a bit of empty space. It was a tight squeeze (the switch is slightly angled) but it's perfect for what I need. The side panels of the switch can be removed for connecting the wires. I used 1 foot long 6awg battery cables to connect the switch to the battery positive terminals.

The rating loses 1 star because I couldn't get the back plating cover to snap back in place no matter how hard I tried. It seems like the mounting nut and bolt are in the way. I had to tape the back plating in place.

Fisherman
3.0 out of 5 stars Function, but not easy to drill holes when installed in recessed way.
Reviewed in Canada on 31 August 2020
Size: On-OffVerified Purchase
I purchased the simple on-off battery switch. Received today and installed immediately for disconnecting my trolling motor battery. Not used yet but it should function well.

I give it 3 stars because:

1. It is not easy to drill holes for the screws when installed in a recessed way. I tried to drill from the back with the switch as a guide with the switch in position (in the main hole). The regular 3/16 drill bit is barely long enough to make it through. I have to reposition the drill bit to make sure it at maximum length. It is not easy without a helping hand to hold it for me.

2. It does not make a “click” sound when you turn it on, it clicks reasonably when you turn it off.

The location I have it installed is not easy to watch from my seat when steering the boat. I hope it can give me a click sound for me to know it is on.

3. It feels slimy when tightening the nuts after connecting related cables to the battery and load. I installed a 4 position switch of a different brand on the same boat. In comparison, this one is not as strong. You need to tighten the nuts on the studs slowly with a ratchet.

5.0 out of 5 stars good relaible and easy to install

I install this botton to shut the battery off when doing some electrical works. Sturdy. The only complain would be that the screws are a little too short. I would suggest to include a second set of screws maybe 1/4" longer for those who install it on thicker wall. Mine is installed on a 1/4" thick panel and I thinks the screws are holding with 2 threads.
