In short, these are the best travel bottles I have found and I highly recommend them if that is what you are seeking.
Update 1 year later - we used the tubes for a three week trip right after purchase. The next time we pulled them out to use them was 9 months later and at that point two of them had developed leaks. The seal between the cap and the silicone tube is no longer snug. Very disappointed now. I've reduced my rating to 2 stars.
Another update - now the little tabs inside the white rings have started breaking off. We've only attempted to use these for 3 big trips over an 18 month period. So very disappointed! I've reduced my rating to 1 star.
That said, I love this set! :D
I filled them up and put them on the lanyard that's made for them so each bottle hangs at a different level on the rope. Everything feels very high quality. (make sure you set the caps with their labels BEFORE filling them. Ahem.) Once on the lanyard, you *can* get them back in the case...but it takes a little extra time to get it all to fit so it can close. It did hold the water back from the lanyard so it didn't go everywhere...but it was irritating getting them to fit in, and then the case was still wet when I took it to put in my gym back a couple days later. That didn't work for me.
So I don't use the case - I hang the lanyard up over the shower head at the gym, then when I wrap my bathing suit and water walking shoes up in a towel, I throw this in with them! Then I hang everything up to finish drying when I get home. So it works perfectly for me :)
I never did try using it without the lanyard, but I have a feeling the 'things remaining wet' issue would disappear. The lanyard's so cool tho ;)
Note: Some reviews have mentioned a leakage issue. When I fly I never fill travel bottles to capacity. This provides a buffer for air pressure changes during the flight. Used these on a recent long flight with no leakage.
I have traveled with the Humangear GoToob bottles before and I like them, but the option to keep all of these on one string won out for me. Plus, they come with their own bag, which the Humangear products do not. The bottles are of decent quality - so far I've only taken them on one trip and they held up nicely.
I took one star because the lids aren't as high a quality - they can be difficult to open when your hands are wet and soapy - and I would've liked to be able to choose the colors. I abhor pink, so I'd gladly buy a spare black or white if they sold them separately.
First, one of the bottles leaked and oozed shampoo all over everything. I thought it might have been user error in assembly (there were no instructions included, but the process seemed simple enough), so I emptied them, took them apart, cleaned them, and refilled. Again, shampoo all over everything. It would have been annoying, but not a huge issue, had the clear carry case done its job and actually contained the contents.
That brings us to the second issue. The very first time I tried to close the bag, it started to split. Because I was flying and these items would be in my carry-on, I had removed the lanyard from the container and added my travel-sized toothpaste, hairspray, moisturizer, and saline solution, but there was still plenty of room for the bag to easily close. I crossed my fingers that it would keep its integrity during travel. Instead, it ripped all the way along the zipper, rendering the bag essentially useless. Unfortunately, since the aforementioned bottle leaked, I ended up with shampoo not only all over my other toiletries, but on several other items in my carry-on luggage.
For the flight back after my trip, I poured the remnants of my shampoo down the sink and wrapped the bag, the offending bottle, and its counterparts in the hotel shower cap with a layer of duct tape during the return flight. This time a second bottle leaked, and conditioner went everywhere. Thankfully, a complimentary shower cap and 10 cents worth of duct tape contained the spill better than the broken AusKit bag did, and the liquids did not get all over my suitcase.
If this product had been significantly cheaper, I might be ok with shoddy construction and treat the kit as disposable, but I invested a little more in hopes of having a travel kit that would last through multiple trips. This was not the case.
I put shower products in these big bottles & used the lanyard with plastic clips in consideration of the wetter conditions in which they'll be used. Used a metal luggage tag ring to keep a razor attached & a large key ring to hang a very scrubby cloth.
I put face & hair things in the smaller bottles on the lanyard with metal clips. Used a suspender clip to attach a travel-size toothpaste, a key ring to hang my toothbrush & another luggage tag ring to hang a metal match case/fob to hold my tweezers & fingernail clippers.
