not a standard color coding of wires

This would be 5 stars if they had chosen to use standard color code.
This is the coding used on this product.

White (ground): 10 gauge - Correct
Black (12V power): 10 gauge - should be red
Yellow (reverse/auxiliary): 14 gauge - should be purple
Red (left turn and stop): 14 gauge - should be yellow
Green (tail and running lights): 14 gauge - should be brown
Brown (right turn and stop): 14 gauge - should be green
Blue (brake): 12 gauge - correct

there is no reason for the color coding they used that I am aware of

This plug cord is great! It was super easy to install and functions perfectly! The previous cord on my pop up tent trailer worked intermittently and it was frustrating. Also, it was just a little short to attach to my truck when the trailer was fully open. This new cord's length allows me to attach when trailer is open without any issue. The connection box is easily labeled by color so that made it simple. I also mounted it upside down and not sideways. This allows it to be more waterproof from rain since the seams are now positioned out rather than up. This length also gave me the ability to make all the wires really clean and organized underneath. That is important to prolong their life within the varying weather elements. I highly recommend this cord and junction box if your need to clean up any wire mess, to help against weather, and to get a good connection to your vehicle at a length that is necessary in all applications.

Color coding exactly same as my camper and very easy to install

Read the reviews before ordering and some said the color coding was inaccurate. I was please to find that the color coding exactly matched my camper. I think the color coding issue pertains to a 4 way flat wiring harness which uses a different coding than what a 7 way uses. I Installed the unit yesterday and was very easy to do. The product does not come with the screws to mount it so you will need to source 2 screws. I used 1" self tapping. The provided crimp connectors worked well with no issues and the box has ample room to leave extra wire tucked nicely out of the way. The 8 foot cord is plenty long and made well. The only small con that I can point out is that there is no gasket around the cover to create a "waterproof" seal. the box is water resistant and I don't believe it will be an issue but wanted to make note of it so anyone looking at this product is aware. I would recommend this to anyone needing to add/upgrade/replace there junction box. easily 5 stars from me.

Disclaimer: I was given this product at a discount to review and provide my honest opinion.

Pros:

Plug fit tightly into the outlet on my truck. Took a little effort to get it on (which is a good thing in my opinion).

The installation method seems pretty simple. I’m not sure if this is normal of all after market trailer plugs, but you cut the wire to your old plug (make sure you know which wire goes where) and then run them into the junction box on the new cord.

The wires inside the sheathing are stiff and rigid, not flimsy and fragile.

Cons:

Compared to the rest of the cord, the plastic junction box feels like it’s lower quality. I’m sure it will hold up fine, but everything else is high quality so it stands out.

The junction box will need to be mounted somewhere on your tongue, so you’ll need more hardware than what is provided.

Overall it’s a good buy if your old trailer plug needs replacing like mine did.

I bought this trailer cord because it received good reviews, was reasonably priced, and included a junction box. Installation was straight forward. The only difficulties were 1) contorting myself to reach the necessary mounting location ( due to the trailers design; NOT a fault with the cable!) , and trying to weatherproof where I had to feed the trailer's wires into the junction box - this was partially a design problem with the box's gaskets.

Unlike many of the reviewers, my trailer's wires matched the cables pin-out colors. This part of the installation was very easy.

Overall, this seems to be an excellent replacement trailer plug and cord.
