I can plug it directly into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 via the included 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter with power on, and into my phone with power off.
The incredibly long cable can be a lifesaver or a nuisance however being able to bundle it up when not needed and ravel out when required is a great option. I'm actually really blown away by how good it is for the price, and if you're considering this price point then get this. I've since upgraded to Rode SmartLav+ to reduce the amount of cable being bunched up on talent. But for long runs, this Lav is still a go to!
this is a great mic, good build quality, ok sound quality,
a fantastic mic for outdoor use, highly recommended for youtuber who wants to start with his/her channel.
No issues with the battery going flat but have been very careful to make sure it is turned off after each use.
Delivery was quick.

I have also watched MANY videos about different types of microphones - from the common reviewer to the sound expert. The consensus has been that this is the best value in Lavalier (lapel) microphones. Not only is it the best value, in many ways it is also the best all around. This is because the cable it about 20 feet in length, it can be used with cameras and cellphones, and it comes with a great set of accessories. The Rode SmartLav + in comparison costs around $70, has a much shorter cable, and is virtually indistinguishable from this microphone in comparative tests I have heard. The Rode RodeLink Wireless Filmmaker Kit, currently retails for around $399.
The only negative part is that you are tethered to a cable, and that you have to remember to turn on and off the microphone is you are not using a smartphone or other device that requires an unpowered mic. You also will have to replace the battery at some point, but the battery lasts a very long time. I was able to find a replacement battery at Walgreens. This microphone is compatible with the LR44, 357, and SR44 batteries.
This microphone did stop working about 7 months into using it; this was probably because of constantly manipulating and bending the cable. I really wanted the "dead cat," so I decided to purchase it new rather than writing the company. Lastly, I wish that the clip would have a feature that allows this microphone to be tilted. This would be helpful, as I use this microphone with t-shirts, and other shirts that are not button down.
The build quality for this microphone overall is very good, the sound quality is among the best, and the value is exceptional. I strongly recommend this microphone, and cannot think of a better option. It is very versatile, and can be used in many situations. The only situation I would not recommend it for is vlogging where you need to remain very mobile and untethered from the camera.
It showed up boy was I surprised. The sound was so clear I posted to my ig stories about this mic using this mic. A few minutes I went to my shop and recorded the intro to my YouTube video. I was beyond impressed I let a handful of people see the intro before I posted it and they all agreed the sound was clear and crisp. I’d recommend this mic to anyone who asks.
