Susan Hyatt gets 5 stars for a fantastic guide book into living an authentic life...
Yes, I've read my fair share of self-help books but it's the one's I constantly refer back to and the ones I never forget that have the greatest impact on my life, Bare is one of those books. I've read it and yes it has a lot of stuff I already read before but never truly implemented, I'm guessing it a combination of picking up the right book at the right time and Susan's writing style it really spoke to me.
I'm enjoying the 7 weeks program and i really loved the book.

You are a badass whole woman with big dreams, big feelings, and big potential. What are you hiding behind that shield of overeating? Who do you want to be when you put down the shield and take on life's battles bare?
In her second book, Bare, Susan Hyatt presents an empowering approach to transforming your body and your life. Inside this book, you’ll learn how to accomplish the following:
- Treat your body with care, love, and respect - not hateful criticism
- Shed everything that’s weighing you down, physically and mentally
- Destress at the end of the day without relying on excessive food, alcohol, Netflix binging, or other habits that clog up your mind and drain your energy
- Stop obsessing about your body and focus on the priorities that really matter in life - like dominating in your career, writing your novel, learning a foreign language, contributing to your community, or otherwise making your mark on the world
This is the perfect book if you want to take excellent care of yourself, upgrade your mental and physical health, build confidence, conquer your goals, crush the patriarchy, and look and feel damn good while doing it. Bare is not a weight-loss plan. It's a life-gain plan.

Will be a Life-changing Book for Most Women
Reviewed in Australia on 31 March 2019
I love this book because of the message and method Susan Hyatt passionately shares in this book. I cannot stress enough how grateful you will be if you read this book and apply the 7-steps over and over again. BARE is not a quick fix, yet it is revolutionary. As I read this book in hardcover or kindle, I find myself cheering inside (and fist-pumping the air - even in public, at the gym on the stationary bike!) My wish is that BARE as a method, way of life and word becomes synonymous with the new norm for how we all embrace life without diets, without body dissatisfaction and without postponing our dreams, our power and our pleasure anymore. I truly believe BARE is not just a book, but a revolution. I personally practice BARE as a woman and Certified Coach in its method. Please get and read this book. You will be SO grateful you did.

I came across Susan Hyatt through two women I admire greatly Denise Duffield Thomas (and her brand of chill leadership and the movement to empower women with their money) and the amazing work of Master Coach and all round outstanding human, Brook Castillo. This book. WOW. This book. It's accessible and I felt the sludge of mediocrity and bad vibes weighing me down slide off of me as I read each week (presented in a Chapters) in her 7 week practice BARE. Starting with your environment is GENIUS. GOLD. I did a mini upgrade of my bathroom, and bedroom, and made the place look chill, centred, and focused AF. Slowly committed to doing this for the rest of the home - now none of this was particularly expensive. I don't have the budget (yet) for an epic reset kinda overhaul - but incremental upgrading of your environment is a great start. Even though it's Chapter 5, I emptied my closet onto my bed, and put away clothes into storage that don't make me feel great (right now, but will again), and tossed clothes to charity bins that were a soul rioting HELL NO, and firm NAY. If an item of clothing didn't inspire YAY, it was outta there. My closet was lighter and I felt lighter.
Week 2 is adding pleasure to your day - and this has been truly TRANSFORMATIONAL. I have drank less alcohol, I have eaten less food (because alcohol and food were my lazy go to's for a kick zing of pleasure). Accepting that a little bit of pleasure in your day is absolutely essential Susan recommends as does Brooke Castillo does that you "prioritise that - schedule those moments when you elevate the ordinary into the sublime first" and reminds us that "without pleasure we get bored. We feel understimulated. We become stressed and brittle. Our bodies revolt. Often we end up overeating because we’re starving for pleasure." Her attentive eating chapter and the power food versus pleasure food distinction appears so simplistic but already I have struggled to eat "attentively" - defaulting to screen time. I have always been a slow eater (fast eaters make me nervous - are they robots?) but bringing my mind to the task was tricky at first. Taking myself out to a restaurant and keeping away from the screens and just focussing on the ambience of the environment and the act of indulging in my delicious meal like a god damn freak was what took it to the next level for me. I also stopped mindlessly snacking while preparing the food - again distracted eating. Eating in a way that doesn't feel like love. Susan invites you to ask, What does love for my body feel like today? Her mindset hacks in Week 6 - detox your mind are again fantastic, a great clean up and declutter about beliefs and ways of thinking that are no longer serving the person you want to be or feel like in your life, I can't wait to apply them! At the moment I am focused like a laser beam on Weeks 2 and Week 3 of the BARE method- incorporating more pleasure into my day AND ... eating with attentiveness. I can't wait to bring this focus to the rest of the areas. I am so grateful for this book and how I am treating myself since reading it. A much more loving and resourceful way to live!

This book will break the diet industry wide open and expose it for the deceit it is!

Loved this book. Susan's writing is clear, to the point and easy to understand. I read the entire book in a couple of sittings and it is already improving the quality of my life. Hoorah for Susan. If all of the energy women put into dieting went into pursuing our dreams instead, this world would be a different place. Just read it!

Ridiculous Recycled Fluff
Reviewed in the United States on 23 April 2019Verified Purchase
Where do I begin. Fluffy advice set up as Recycled steps of things to do that you've heard a million times before, and given a fancy title as some created Method that she thinks she's the first person to ever think of. I don't understand all these 5 star "life altering" reviews of this book. Maybe they were provided this book as some type of promotion
and then given an extra bonus to pose for a picture holding the book? This book contains the same advice and snippets of canned wisdom I've read in the very magazines she bashes and insists you get rid of. "Have a cup of tea in a pretty tea cup" "Pet a kitten or a puppy". Really? The stories of her clients made me laugh out loud. She wrote of this one most likely made up story that her client had a ton of fitness and recipe magazines she was saving and miraculously her bookshelf broke under the weight of all of them. So that was the Divine sign from above to rid herself of these publications
And after doing that years of weight issues magically were fixed. Or another story of a so-called client who was carrying around 40 extra pounds and was a successful executive. Her sage advice to this woman was to have her start walking her dog for 30 minutes. Apparently after that she dropped the weight and met a handsome man at the dog park! It sounds like a lifetime TV movie. Everything was wrapped up with a pretty bow but nothing concrete was broken down by these fantasy examples of the steps taken to shed their excess weight. Or actual words from these so-called women themselves. I also thought it was tacky that she brags she makes 7 figures from "life coaching". That sentence alone spoke volumes about this author. This book just didn't hold any weight and was not written in an intelligent or deep way. It was surfacey and predictable. We've heard all this stuff before! I've read much more profound and intelligent things about this topic elsewhere by smart people. Save your money. I'm going to donate this book to the library to hopefully save another woman from wasting her money.
