5.0 out of 5 stars A lot can happen in your life while working offshore!! This covers the good and bad
By MonsterCat on 6 June 2021
As someone who doesn't really read this genre very often (or non fiction as a whole) I absolutely loved Amos work it was hard to put down. It's a pretty fascinating and eye opening look into working for weeks away from home and loved ones. The book intentionally isn't overly technical and I'm thankful of that but it explains enough so you understand what kind of hard work is involved with the job.

Many people just look at the potential money involved with working fly in fly out without considering the effects on relationships and mental health. There is some really funny moments and also heart wrenching about all that can unfold in a family over 14 years. It's certainly an emotional rollercoaster to read through and Amos is very transparent about his personal and working life through the book.

For anyone who's ever wanted to know what it's like working in the middle of the ocean for weeks on end, the strain on your relationships and the direction the industry is heading you will enjoy this. There is something for everyone here even those not overly interested in the oil industry it's just a great read.
