I purchased it from Amazon only to be a bit disappointed because here in Canada [I'm in Toronto], you can only find the Betty Crocker GF cake mixes. Many of the recipes necessitate use of the GF Bisquick and GF Chocolate Chip mixes in the recipes but I can't find them anywhere so half the book is off limits to me now. If anyone can shed some light on where I can find those items, please do. Otherwise I'm surprised this limitation wasn't mentioned in the description of the book.
Recipes turn out well as I would expect from Betty Crocker. What I don't like about this cookbook is that they show Betty Crocker brand products as prime ingredients. They don't break out the ingredients, they want you to purchase a BC product to dump into the recipe.
Congratulations on your new dust collector! Gees! Not what i expected at all. Other reviewers are right, alot and i mean alot of boxed prepackaged ingredients in the recipes. Half of them are stuff i coulda figured out on my own, and were on the duh level of simplicity, the other half where am i gonna find guar gum? Xanthan gum? I'm sorry, but i was hoping for a kinda poor mans version of a gluten free cookbook when i bought this. Glad i only spent five bucks (used). Oh well.
Disappointed as it almost in every recipe uses a Bisquick Mix for the recipe. Just give the recipe with what you've used. If I mix the flour, I don't use all of it in one recipe, therefore a waste of some very expensive ingredients. Betty Crocker books that I've gotten in the past have all been start to finish from scratch. This is not what I was expecting.
It's a nice gluten free cookbook, however, I was looking for one that had all recipes using Betty Crocker, General Mills, etc., products. This cookbook has many recipes that require lengthy ingredients from scratch.
Looking for a good gluten-free cookbook so bought this one. Reasonable number of recipes, heavy on desserts. Unfortunately, most of it seems to be "combine this mix and that mix" using commercially available mixes... disappointingly few "home cooking" or "from scratch" recipes.
