I purchased this cellphone holder because it has a metal construction and seemed solid enough to properly secure my phone on my road bike.
Literally on my first ride everything is was fine until I started noticing the vibration of the bicycle began to loosen the main tightening screw for the phone. I tightened multiple times throughout my bike trip and until ultimately I stopped paying attention and the phone completely fell out of the holder. My brand new S20 Plus just slid about 10 feet after it bounced a few times on concrete. I am speechless and cannot recommend this product. Also the clamp on this product will scratch your handlebars as it's just metal on metal.
I am slightly disappointed. I purchased this item on the basis that it had a special Allen key to undo it. My reason being is that my last one was stolen. Although the pictures and reviews state that it does need a different key to undo it. Mine has turned up with a regular Allen key fitting. Although the holder is solid, it defeats the purpose of me buying it. I feel a little mislead.
So I purchased this mount recently and Id say first ride I was a bit skeptical. For the most part it holds my Galaxy S20 in well even with an otterbox symmetry case but first time I put the anti slip pads on the adhesive didn't set and my phone slid out of the left clamp a bit. After putting it back in and NOT OVERTIGHTENING to the point id be concerned about cracking the screen I had no issues. Last night however when I decided to look back at the reviews I noticed many had their phones fly out of the mount, mostly on motorcycles. Today I think I found a solution to that issue. I don't know if this was the product intent but I unscrewed the mount piece and stuck the silicone piece between the rotating joint and the mount body. It takes a bit of fiddling but I got my old S8 without case into the mount and I gotta say I don't see any reason for this phone to come out of the mount now. This may solve any problem people have about losing their phones to vibration but that being said YOUR PHONE CAN BE DAMAGED BY CONSTANT VIBRATION, take this into consideration before mounting your phone and if you have an old phone laying around maybe use that one instead. Overall id say the product is a solid design, it doesn't creep on the handlebars nor should it cause damage if you use the plastic inserts for the handle mount.
