When I first got my ukulele, before I had developed the necessary finger calluses from repeated practice, I really thought I would want picks for my instrument. I bought these as felt is ideal for plastic uke strings! They definitely do work, and the fact that they produce a different timbre of sound than finger-strumming can be useful for some songs, but honestly I find that I rarely ever use the picks now. They are well constructed and the colours are nice.
Great product. I got exactly what is in the picture including the packaging. The picks work really well for my ukulele and make my lunch time private jam sessions a lot of fun. I ordered the pink color. I've used 2 of them and they are breaking in rather well. I tested two of the picks by throwing them in hot water with mild hand soap to wash off the greasiness from my fingers. I put the picks on the window sill to dry in the sun. They were fine and were no longer greasy. So overall a great product. Will order more again in the future.
I didn't know what to expect from these picks. I hadn't ever seen a ukulele pick before. I'm more of a guitar player and strumming my ukulele with my thumb wasn't working too well. These picks are great. They are more firm than I expected them to be. They really give a great sound and I enjoy playing my ukulele so much more using them.
As a beginner, I was anxious to start sounding more consistent with my strumming but couldn't get comfortable with thumbs or fingernails.....these picks greatly improved the sound of my strumming. The colors are pretty, they seem durable, and I don't notice much lint on the instrument. Really helped make my beginner playing sound better.
These picks work nicely, providing a less twangy sound than the plastic picks I've traditionally used, but they are thicker than I was hoping they would be and create a louder sound than I was hoping for. I can adapt a little bit by adjusting the force of my strum, but I was hoping these picks would dampen the sound a little more than they do
Love, love, LOVE these. These are not straight felt—they're soaked in what I'm guessing is a plumber or glue that makes them quite strong and sturdy. But after a few minutes of playing the felt relaxes just enough to make the sound so warm and consistent on my tenor uke that I can't believe I've been using my fingers this whole time. Beginners will especially love the boost in confidence that these picks give when producing such a rich, beautiful sound with zero effort.
I’m a beginner in playing instruments so I don’t know if this is an accurate description of how it went for me. Thing is I am having a hard time playing with this over the strings of my ukulele. This fumbles and fray so easily I don’t like it. And it leaves dusty residue behind.
These will not scratch up the soft woods of your ukuleles! They’re hard enough for picking a solo, yet soft enough to pluck the nylon strings gently for a rich and full tone. You can always play with your finger, but I have big hands and have bruised my fingers from hours-long practice sessions, so I tried these and they’re a great addition to my practice time. Additionally, if you’re jamming with multiple ukes, let one player finger pick and the other use a felt pick, and you’ll get a diversity of styles and tones!
The felt is actually more course than I had expected. I have never had a felt pick before though, so maybe I just need to break it in. The pick is also a little thicker than I had imagined (they are about 4mm thick) and they kind of snag on the strings when I try to pluck quickly--this may be because of my playing skills though. I am still a very basic beginner. The colors are just as they appear in the picture. Overall I still like them, and I hope that they become softer as I play with them more.
