The silk Epil 9 has a wider head but realistically it is no improvement for me as my legs are quite thin, if you're wanting to get to delicate areas, even just on the face the head is too wide and is a bit of a bother.
I feel like the shaver/epilator head doesn't fit into the handle as well either, might just be a bit of an issue with the one i received, not sure, it just feels a bit loose.
LOVED the Silk Epil 7, I would recommend that over this model for sure. Wouldn't be without an Epilator, don't need the extra gadgets for brushing, for me I love the shave/trim head and the epilator head.
That one is better, less painful, more handy, and I have to admit, quite pretty.
I'll stick to that one for a while I hope

I have fine blonde hair - and sometimes my old braun epilator wouldnlt always grab the hairs.... meaning I would have to redo my legs the day after for any wee bits missed - a wee bit of a faff.
This epilator is absolutly brilliant - I cannot believe how much better it is than my older model - I used this dry using the close head and it really did more or less grab every hair - this is the smoothest legs I have ever got from an epilator.
Highly, highly recommended
I am white/British with dark, thick hair that has a tendency to grow fast, with the odd ingrown hair (pretty standard there then).
The epilator itself looks the part (as far as beauty products go) and is easy to hold in one hand, while you pull the skin taunt with the other. Yes the plug is a two pin, but like most beauty products nowadays you get over it and use an adapter. There is a little light which to be honest half the time my fingers cover it, but it comes in handy doing your underarms. All the little accessories and bag it comes with are a bonus, but I’ll be honest I’m not sure how much they will get used.
Now for the negatives.....
Have to run over my skin 3, 4 sometimes 5(!!) times to get all the hairs up. This gets annoying after a while, as my last epilator (costing £39.99!!) did the job in no time. The product description beefed this aspect up so much, my expectations were admittedly high, but were by no means unrealistic. I’ve tried different hair lengths, pressures, angles the lot and it’s still pants. The only area it does seem to work well on is the softer, downy hair on my thighs so I’m guessing this product works awesome for those with finer, less coarse hair.
Bikini line - don’t bother using the epilator as it’s just too wide to be fully effective and seems to struggle with hairs growing at various angles which means the dreaded repeats again in the same area.
The ‘wide head’ that is sold as a selling point is a bit too wide in my opinion, so running it over your bumpy bits (i.e. knees, near ankles etc.) is awkward and again (!!) needs a few attempts to catch all the hairs.
The switch on/off is a bit fiddly and a two handed job when your mid flow and just one to flick it on and off while you catch a stray hair with your tweezers. Not a deal breaker but annoying all the same.
Overall I would recommend that you stick with a basic, cheaper alternative and save your money as it is honestly not worth it. I’ll stick with it having forked out a fortune but know at some point it will end up in the cupboard alongside my face steamer, foot spa, slendertone belt and electronic teeth whitening kit......
Product is great but won't charge in my shaver socket. Customer support tell me it is now fitted with a European 2 pin plug and the pins are thinner than the old models hence not a good contact. Fortunately I still have the old charger and his advise was to use that. Fine if you have one. What are you supposed to do if it's a first time buy. Should come with an adapter for UK use and a clear explanation in the instructions. Not really good enough for an item costing £120.00
I tried everything that came in the box today and I am really happy with my purchase. The mini trimmer is such a nifty little thing for bikini line and facial hairs. It works well but you have to use a good light when trimming facial hairs and your bikini line to make sure you don’t miss any areas. It’s light and easy to manoeuvre. I have quite fine facial hair and standard bikini-line hair so the true performance of this tool would probably be determined by the thickness of your hair. The thicker or courser the hair the more you’ll have to go over the surface area.
I epilated my legs and forearms as well. Yes ok it stings but I find it less painful than waxing. You’ll need to set a good amount of time aside to do a good job at grooming. It plucks most of the hair out but does require going over the surface area more than once. I shaved my armpits too. I couldn’t gather the courage to epilate the armpit but the shaver works equally as well as a razor in my opinion.
I also used the brushes. Loved how soft they are to touch and the exfoliation is gentle.
The downside with this product is grooming time is a lot longer than razor shaving or salon waxing.
Hopefully this product won’t fail to impress and perform but I do recommend :)
I bought in May 2019 and it’s now August 2019 and it’s broke - the shaver won’t work
I want this replacing not fixing
Buying online is proven difficult
If this was bought in boots it would of been replaced ASAP
I love it.. if you are used to waxing this is no more uncomfortable. Great to take on holiday if you need to for the stray hair or two. The exfoliating brushes are a plus.. not sure about the light?? Does it make a difference, maybe if your hair is darker, or there is a power cut!!
The first time I did my underarms I was in pain for 2 hours but since then I don’t have any problems, the hair grows less and less. I’m not exaggerating, I think I get 4-6 hairs under each arm after so many years of using it so ladies, it’s totally worth the money and the initial pain. You’ll save much more after! Thank you Braun!
One thing to note is that it doesn’t come with a mains plug. It’s a shaver plug so needs a socket or adapter to charge.
Personally I can't use it any where other than my legs as I find it too painful so I still have to get other areas waxed but it is great on the legs and the exfoliating brushes mean you get her rid of those little hairs that sit just under the skin easily.
