Dual Boiler Espresso Machine Be your own barista and create great tasting coffee to rival the best café. The Dual Boiler™ is for the coffee connoisseur who prefers to control every step in the espresso process. You can extract espresso and texture milk simultaneously, allowing you to capture the delicate aromatics of the espresso in your coffee by having the espresso and milk ready at the same time. Precise Espresso Extraction - Dual Stainless steel boilers and heated group head, both regulated by our digital temperature control technology (PID), delivers water at precisely the right temperature, for consistent espresso quality, shot after shot. The Dual Boiler™ also features an Over Pressure Valve (OPV) which limits the maximum pressure throughout the extraction, helping to prevent bitter flavours in the shot. It also offers a true low pressure pre-infusion, which gradually increases the pressure to gently expand the grinds for an even extraction. A shot clock and pressure gauge to help you improve your barista skills. Micro-foam Milk - the steam wand, powered by the dedicated steam boiler, instantly delivers the pressure to create micro-foam texture similar to commercial machines. Smart Grinder™ Pro Automatically doses the same amount every time you grind. The very best taste will always come from using quality, freshly roasted coffee that's ground right before you extract. Always use a quality burr grinder, and grind right before you extract, just like the very best cafes. Breville's conical burr Smart Grinder™ Pro uses Dosing IQ technology to automatically adjust the dose whenever you change the grind. Choose between 'cups' for French press or Filter, and 'shots' for Espresso to get the right dose for your coffee's needs. You can even tweak for taste.

The Barista Choice
The Pros have spoken. When asked about the Dual Boiler, Australian Barista Champion Craig Simon deemed it 'Ridiculously good. 24.5 out of 25.'
Precise and Repeatable Extraction
Dual stainless steel boilers and heated group head controlled by digital temperature control (PID) brings water to precisely the right temperature (+/- 1⁰C) to extract maximum flavour potential, shot after shot.
Micro-Foam Milk Texturing
Steam wand, powered by a dedicated boiler, delivers micro-foam texture of commercial machines that enhances flavour and is essential for creating latté art.
Allows easy programming and a shot clock during the extraction.
Flexible Shot Control
Choose between one shot, two shots or manual control over how much espresso ends up in your cup for the perfect dose every time.
Adjustable Dose Control Grinder
The Smart Grinder Pro lets you grind directly into the portafilter, an airtight container, gold tone filter basket or paper filter. The choice is yours.

1. The machine does not extract the right volume of water
* without coffee load, it pushes a full glass of water through.
* with coffee load compacted at 18+9 kg in the basket, it may not even extract a drop into the glass
* both buttons 1 and 2 equally extract same amount of water into the glass
The above is only "fixable" by the grinding settings , which practically does not give opportunity to experiment and achieve a constant 30ml shot within 30 seconds period.
2. Milk on the nozzle dries up almost instantly after frothing it and requires quite an effort to scrap it off after each use.
3. Takes about 5 minutes to heat up before can be used, not a big deal, but gets annoying when you want it
4. The coffee puсk gets stuck after each use - requires a little trick to get it right out.
on top of that, the gift pack arrived in 2.5 months after claiming and even then was missing a coffee pack in it.
For the money spent, honestly expected a better experience.
We experiment with a lot of different coffee types (Long time favourite is Gesha Queen's Crown), and they all require different grind settings and tamping pressure, but when you get them right, this machine makes the best coffee I've had anywhere between Perth and Melbourne.
Overall, the aim is to get the pressure setting to 9 exactly, and the coffee comes out best, generally we start at these parameters:
Dark roast: Grind time 19.6, Grind setting 13, tamp pressure light-medium (2-3kg ish),
Medium roast: Grind time 19.8, Grind setting 11-12, tamp pressure medium (5kg ish)
Of course, if it comes out too dark, burnt, slowly & with pressure greater than 9, we slightly lower the tamp pressure and grind time, and vice versa if it comes out too quickly, sour, and with pressure less than 9.
1 shot: I still struggle to get the perfect shot with the single shot filter basket. Generally, I aim for about 10.2 seconds with grind 12 as a start. I recommend sticking with the double shot basket when starting off.
We stick to a brand we like and find the settings only mildly vary as the coffee gets mild air exposure over the period of a couple weeks.
When I first started using the machine I was always burning the coffee but couldn't taste the difference. How things have changed. Turns out I was using way too much pressure (dad had set the grind up perfectly).
With the new filter handle the puck was getting stuck on a good shot, we found the handle basket had "seasoned" over time, despite not being visually noticeable. So should get easier over time as long as you don't bleach clean the coffee handle (just give it a rinse with cold water) including the inside with basket taken out.
One other thing, they seem to have upgraded the filters they use to prevent scale build up, but we use water from a Brita Jug to fill it up because their filters are cheaper per litre and (obviously) prolong the use of the coffee machine filter.
In conclusion, 5 stars, take notes, and stick to the same brand while experimenting! Coffee snobs willing to spend $10 of coffee getting the settings right will love this machine.
