Product description
Bulleit 95 Rye Bourbon Frontier Whiskey is russet in colour with rich oaky aromas. The taste is exceptionally smooth with hints of vanilla, honey and spice. Finish is crisp and clean with long, lingering flavours. Bulleit Rye is made with a mashbill of 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley and is produced in small batches. Simply combine our rye whiskey with sweet vermouth, a dash of bitters and a cherry for a classic Manhattan cocktail.
From the manufacturer

Bulleit Rye
With Rye being a cornerstone to the Bulleit Bourbon recipe, Bulleit Rye had long been a dream of Tom Bulleit’s, and it was the next natural extension of the brand. For years, bartenders and mixologists alike requested that Tom add a rye whiskey to the Bulleit range. Tom listened and now it is the No. 1 Rye in the U.S.

On the nose, the alcohol smells like some kind of paint solvent that I actually like and reminds of painting models. Some of the spice confess through on the nose too and substantial sweetness.
On the palette you get a woody liquorice flavour followed by a strong and growing spice, but the more you drink the more the flavour moves towards a very woody bourbon.

It's a cheap Whiskey. One dimensional, lots of astringency. A good amount of dryness and spice from the Rye, but that's about it. Its not a bad Whiskey, but it's definitely not a nice one.
Even at £22 I wouldn't actively seek this one out again.
The cork is rubbish too, it's too large for the bottle and loses bits into the bottle everytime you reinsert it.
You get what you pay for is certainly true with this one.
