Did not work for my Lenovo T520. Funny thing is, the other cable from this company, Cable Matters, that I bought after I confirmed this cable did not work. The other cable is: Cable Matters Gold Plated DisplayPort to HDMI Male to Female Adapter with Built-in Light Indicator (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005BV75SI/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).
I wonder if I got a defective product, all the exterior looked fine.
was next to impossible to pull it out from the displayport on my laptop. Afraid it may damage the displayport, I would not dare to try second time. Will have to return it. The delivery was timely though.
I purchased the Cable Matters DP to HDMI adapter when my new work issued laptop did not come with an HDMI port, but the less expensive Display Adapter. I use a 24 inch flat screen television as an extended display because I'm more often than not working with multiple documents, chat windows, and emails and the extra screen real estate is invaluable. With my previous laptop using HDMI everything was as sharp as you would expect it to be - but not so using the DP to HDMI Adapter. The issue is that everything is fuzzy - it's like looking at bad VGA in 16X9 format. I actually thought maybe my Costco 3-in-a-pack glasses might be the problem but switching to my much finer progressive lenses didn't help. I tried increasing the sharpness level of the television, all to no avail. Bottom line is, if you use a flat screen as an extension having an actual HDMI port is the way to go. If you do end up with a DP port, this adapter will not give you the resolution you want. The tech guys in our office loaned me one from Hewlett Packard that worked perfectly, and I will be shopping for one of those today.
I am running one monitor on VGA and one on HDMI with this adapter. It worked right away, plug and play, put the picture is quite poor. All the colors are a little off( looks orange). And the picture quality was also bad. At fist I thought it was just my monitor, but I switched the VGA and HDMI between monitors and the color/picture quality problems switched as well. So, it works, but if you are looking for a nice HD display maybe look elsewhere, I'm not impressed.
