Bought this about a month ago. Not a bad little grinder, however, the charging light never did work and still doesn't...which makes it hard to know when it's fully charged. Hopefully it does charge....still testing it out.
We have three chihuahuas and we have found the nail clipper is very hard to use. It has left my dogs nails bleeding because it doesn't cut right. On the grinder number one it doesn't hold a charge. We have own this for while now and we have tried to use it as best we can we have looked at all the literature. We do not care for this product at all best words I can come up with it's cheap.
Okay, I was afraid of trimming the nails of our two new kittens, and afraid I would hurt them, but we also don't like having our furniture torn to shreds, so they convinced us to give this a try (in the same way as our neighbor convinced us that we really did want a fence after all). Worked like a charm. Only took me a few minutes to get the front claws ground down to "tolerable" and "can't climb up the curtains any more" length, from "piercing" and/or "painful when climbing up your leg" length. Virtually no noise, so quick that the nails didn't heat up, and I was able to leave a comfortable length so as not to hurt the cats. No more pointed remarks from them. After the first minute, they put up with it, kind of like they do when we put hats on them for Halloween or Christmas. The USB charger is also fast and easy. Bonus - they donate a small amount to no-kill shelters, no idea how much (could be three cents), but still a nice gesture. I haven't tried any other brands so I can't compare, but I see no reason to look at any other. Update after a couple of months – the kittens grow claws so fast that we can't keep up with them, so we had to buy an actual clipper, even though the grinder still works as expected.
First of all, this is a great product. I have a big dog whose nails had really gotten long because she hates to get her nails done. This little gem keeps them managed and she is completely mellow while getting her pup mani. The charge lasts for 1-2 paws, but it recharges quickly. It would have been nice to have some clear instructions with it, we had to figure out the best way to use it by trial and error.
This product has been a game changer! I have a small chihuahua mix puppy with dark nails that I hate clipping. Not only does he hate it but I get so nervous bc I can’t see where I need to cut to and I’m not exactly ready to traumatize him yet by cutting his quick on accident. And he needs them done way too often to go get it done professionally. I use the manual clippers first to get at least the tips off and then use the electric trimmer to file them down and round them bc the WORST thing was having him scratching me and everything else up with sharp jagged nails. I’m able to do it pretty quickly (with bribery of apples, of course) and don’t worry about my skin, furniture, or floors taking the punishment.
I have two large mastiff-mix dogs. Neither are big fans of having their paws held for long periods of time. This unit is good because it is quiet and nimble enough that I can hold it on the claw without holding the paw too firmly. Unfortunately, the "diamond" grit rotating head barely removes more than a couple of microns of claw and putting any firmer pressure on it and the motor grinds to a halt. Wimpy wimpy wimpy. It is NOT working on my big dogs' hard claws.
I purchased this unit for the electric dog nail filer. I like the products rechargeability and price! It does seem to be a bit underpowered (easily stopped) even though they state using a 3.7 v battery. The only other thing is the clippers included which was great, were very small for my hands and not sure they would do the job for a larger dog without hand strength. I have a heavy duty set for my boxers nails so this was not an issue for me. Initial impressions, will update if needed in later usage
Great, quality product! I've always clipped my dogs nails, but they always end up so sharp & they are black, so I can't see how far I can clip them. With this grinder, not only can I smooth the nails so they're not so sharp, but I can also file them down shorter without risking clipping my dogs nails too short & hurting her. I wasn't sure how my dog would react to this & the noise, but she did great! Didn't seem to bother her at all...I actually think she may like it better than when I clip her nails. Love this product & so does my pup!
