I loved watching his programmes but this particular season was my favourite because I love far eastern food as I'm far eastern myself.
The book itself is heavy but very beautiful because there are a lot of pictures and it fits well with his journey and the food he made whilst he was there. It's got a very river/water theme throughout the book which I really liked. The pictures are stunning and large and almost as if your there where he was, truly delightful.
The recipes are fairly brilliant except a few ingredients may be difficult to get hold of depending where you live but I'm happy to leave out or substitute.
I'm happy I got the book and can't wait to get cooking some lovely food.

Rebranded book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 November 2019Verified Purchase
I have just received this book and though I generally love Luke Nguyen’s shows and books I am livid. I bought this new and used so can’t really send it back with any value however it is a page by page copy of Greater Mekong which I bought for a considerable price when the show was first aired. So I am very disappointed to buy the book again with no warning - this is simply recovering and renaming. I also own Indochine which I would perhaps infer is the original for the food of Vietnam book??? Is that too a rebrand? I’d check first if I were you. Not happy!

Delicious journey on the Mekong
Reviewed in Canada on 14 July 2016Verified Purchase
Wonderful book showcasing dishes and recipes Luke prepares during his Mekong journey - as seen on tv. Most ingredients can be bought from Asian supermarkets. The odd ingredients like red ant eggs and buffalo skin would be tough to find. With all the photos from urban marketplaces to seaside vendors, to rural rice paddies, you'll feel like you're exploring the lands with him.
This is 99% the same as the Greater Mekong book. This one has a hard cover, is slightly smaller, has traditional paintings inside the covers, and "matte" pages. GM has a hard cover with a dust jacket, photo collages inside the covers, and glossy pages.

Great local recipes in a nicely done book. I recommend also "Street Food Asia" with even more stylish photos.
Along the Mekong has a lot of Fish dishes.
