So anyone ven considering going red, whether vibrant or not, understand that red is the second hardest color for hair to hold onto next to blue, so even if you wash and rinse your hair in cold cold water every time no matter what u do you will lose color every time you wash it, because red color molecules are so small, they fall out of even healthy hair easily. But with this protein Filler, it helps repair the follicles and seal in color, making even the brightest red last twice as long. I would never even attempt to dye my hair Red without it. It's worth every penny and you see the proof in your results. It's literally like magic in the difference it makes. Take it from someone who has tried almost every combination of products on he market in the last 5 years I've been dying my hair Red. The picture I included was actually taken over a month after I last dyed my hair. With this Filler, even with one of the quickest fading colors out here, my roots still grow out and have to be touched up long before I feel the need to recolor from color fade out. Once you use this product once, you won't know how you dyed your hair without it.
Color wise I use L’Oréal hi lights red
The reason I took off stars though is mainly because i had large clumps of hair coming out while it was processing (before, during, and after using the hair dye, not just when I used the dye). I read on another site that another user experienced this too. It was quite scary and now I’m scared to do anything else to it to fix the grey. Also, the amount is very small for the price. You can get this same bottle at Sally’s for ten dollars less which I didn’t realize until after I made the purchase.
I suggest calling your local Sally’s first to see if they have it in stock. I also suggest purchasing two bottles if you have medium to long hair. Clearly one bottle wasn’t enough to get desired results for my medium length hair. I also suggest using dye with very vivid red tones if you had bleached blonde hair that you are trying to get brown. The picture of my hair afterwards doesn’t really show the true results of how much grey tone it has, but it’s very obvious in person and definitely not a pretty, healthy brown even in the picture. I purchased the red red color btw, with the intention of “filling” the strands before dying so that my hair didn’t turn grey.
I have neutral from same brand which instructs to blot off excess filler and colour over without rinsing, so I used the red that way as well (doesn't instruct this on the bottle, BTW). It worked wonderfully! Hair colour still took without an issue, just make to blot well! Especially the crown area where a lot of excess hides.
In the future, I will add a cap or two full to my dye mix and use in one step for new growth.
