Braun recommends changing your shaver’s foil & cutter block every 18 months to maintain maximum performance. For a perfect shave every day. For use with Series 5, ContourPro 360° Complete Shavers. Please note: This is a replacement part for an existing Braun Shaver.

1) If I send you the broken ones, can you replace the foils and cutters with good quality ones or the replacements will be of the same quality?
2) Is Braun addressing and fixing this problem or do I really have to move to Philips or another brand?
3) If Braun is addressing this problem and they are producing normal quality foils and cutters how can I recognise them from the bad quality ones that are sold all over the country?
Anyone has a good recommnedation for brands of dry shavers? And please, not Gillette, they are owned by P&G too, so not willing to try.
Original foil/blade = 15 Month life
First Replacement = 17 month life
Second Replacement = 12 month life
Just ordered thrird replacement from an alternative supplier as second replacement foil/blade appears to have worn much quicker than previous two despite my beard being not especially tough. Awarding (only) 3 stars because: (1) I'm pretty sure instructions indicate average foil/blade life of 18 months - which I have not achieved; and (2) washing liquid and replacement foil/blade costs are accumulating over time and three years down the line, I suspect technology developments meand there may now be an alternative on the market that is harder wearing with lower running costs. More prosaically, if your foil/blade is a year or more old and you have lately found yourself repeatedly "scrubbing" at your face when using your braun - you will find that a new foil/blade will restore as new-type performance.
There have been no problems with these cutter/foils in the past, but I noticed that this last set shed some very black dust (in addition to my grey beard hair bits) during the first half-dozen uses! I could not see where the dust was coming from. However, I did note that there is a black coating on parts of the inner side of the foil holder, but it appears to be undamaged. Very strange! But apart from that, several weeks on it still seems to be working as well as previous replacements.
Cleaning tip: I also have another, different model, Braun which I use less often, and I have a Braun cleaning device for each one. Although Braun recommend regular use of the cleaning device, over the years I have noted that this it is not strictly necessary to use it every time, and I now tend to use these cleaners perhaps once every 2 to 4 weeks along with a full re-charge of the battery. Doing so seems to have little or no effect on the performance and longevity of the foils and cutters, but over a year it does save some money on the cleaning cartridges. However, I do lightly brush the cutters and foils after each use, and in the case of the washable Braun razor, I also rinse under the tap, and that seems to work well enough.
Buying tip: Amazon usually the best prices, but if you have a Boots Advantage card in the family it is as well to check at your local Boots because you could save on some Braun running costs by using those points. Even better value if you can get the additional 60s points, and also if Boots are discounting Braun products. And before you ask, I don't have any association with Boots :-)
Deducted one star for the black dust problem and, IMHO, the relatively high running costs of generally well made Braun products.
How do I even check I have the real thing? as looking at recent reviews on Amazon I now notice that others are also reporting that the blades are not very good and don’t last as long as they used to, has their been so really bad reduction in the metal used to make the blades.?
Update 19-Aug-18: The replacement one developed a hole in the foil within 8 months of use. Clearly the quality of the foils has been compromised by Braun. I shall be taking this up with them. Very disappointing.
Update 20-Aug-18: I spoke Procter and Gamble (P&G) Customer Services department this morning to complain about the durability of the Braun 51S foils. They assured me that there has been no change to the quality of the foils. However, they kindly agreed to send me a FREE replacement and asked that I use their one and monitor its durability.
Update - After just 4 months of use, this head has become useless. As this happened with the previous one I bought, I must assume all future replacement heads will be the same, thereby rendering my Braun shaver a poor buy if I have to pay out £25 three times a year for replacement heads. Sorry Braun, but I've just ordered a new Panasonic shaver
Sowas ist absolut nicht zu empfehlen. Anscheinend wird nur noch billig produziert ?!?!
Ich steigt um auf Phillips und teste die mal...
