I bought this for a music fest trip which required me to camp for 4 nights. I was trying to save space and avoid spillage so a solid hair conditioner was a great idea.
Using it, however, is way harder than liquid conditioner. You have to really rub the conditioner to get the product on your hair. And once it gets wet, it gets icky and makes the container hard to manipulate.
My hair felt soft after but it wasn't any softer compared to regular conditioner.
One has to dry the conditioner thoroughly before putting it back on the container or else it will melt away. The container also rusted quickly. It takes forever to dry and you'd have to dedicate space on your tent just to let this dry.
Overall, I like the concept but as it is now, the solid conditioner is too bothersome. It's better to decant some conditioner on a small container and call it a day.
This says unscented on the tin, but its natural smell was a sort of musty dust kind of smell. It didn't linger in my hair afterwards, thankfully, but it made it extremely unpleasant to use. I didn't notice enough conditioning effects on my hair for me to consider it worth keeping. Either I got a weird batch, or I'm just particularly sensitive to whatever makes it smell that way.
The lid and base have little notches that you give a little twist to 'lock'. It's not as secure as a threaded lid, but it's easier to work with when your hands are wet than a simple push down lid. And mine had one of those 'freshness seal' pieces of paper you find glued on jar lids, only it was underneath the conditioner bar, (not glued down) presumably to help you get the bar out, keep it from sticking to the tin.
I love this product! I've been using it daily with this company's shampoo bars for a few weeks & no longer have to use additional styling products. I'm in my mid-40s and have shoulder-length hair that is greying, getting more fine & more wavy as I'm aging. Now my hair looks shiny & healthy. Humidity still causes my hair to curl, but the frizziness is gone & curls are more defined. Also, these products take up much less space in a travel bag than bottles of hair products.
I just about lost my mind trying to deal with the Lush conditioner bars after I decided to convert to zero waste conditioner and shampoos. Theirs were so dry and left my hair completely damaged and so I decided to give this a shot and I'm so so glad I did. The thing is I have curly-wavy thick thick frizzy hair that needs to be moisturized and I have to detangle in the shower to try and limit the frizz as much as I can. This stuff feels like smooth butter once it hits the water and it was very easy to spread throughout my very thick long hair. I HIGHLY recommend this stuff and I'm never getting a Lush bar again after that experience. I'm so excited to have found this and I will now subscribe to once a month delivery :)
This review is for the Honey Silk hair conditioner...seems like the reviews for this product and the beer conditioner are mixed together, and I just want to clarify that I haven't tried the beer version (yet!). I purchased the Honey Silk conditioner after using the Beauty and the Bees Voodoo Bamboo Charcoal shampoo bar for a couple weeks...going into winter, I needed some extra moisture to keep the static at bay. I had unrealistically expected that the conditioner bar would be similar in consistency to the shampoo bar, which is hard and similar to a regular bar of soap (not the glycerin type). However, the conditioner bar is much softer, more slippery and very malleable. I've been keeping it on the far side of my shower, as far away from the water as I can, but it remains soft and melt-y, and the tin has started to rust (ick). I'm sure removing it from the shower and allowing it to dry after each use would help, but I can't be bothered with toting the thing back and forth every time. I find it pretty unpleasant to use compared to conventional conditioners from a bottle...I never get enough product off it when rubbing it on my hands and then through my hair, and rubbing it directly on my hair causes any loose hairs to stick to it (ARG).
The product itself works okay. It's a bit difficult figuring out the right amount to use, and it's a thin line between well-conditioned and greasy hair. It's done the job of keeping the static away, but hasn't given me the hair of shampoo/conditioner commercials. I'll continue to use it, but am already on the lookout for the next product to try once this one's done.
I wanted a non liquid to take in a carry-on. This had good reviews, so I tried it. This bar is a bit on the soft side. Not as firm as a shampoo bar. Think soft beeswax candle. I just massaged it all over my hair for a couple of minutes and rinsed it out. My hair is smooth, slick, and soft when I use this. I have long hair so would probably only get about twelve uses from this size bar. Somewhat expensive for daily use, but great for the travel bag. Will keep on hand for travel. Hotel shampoo is the pits. So is going through tsa with liquids and gels. Greatful for creative people who make these things.
I bought this about a year and a half ago. It pairs very well with my bar shampoo (Whiff unscented) and leaves my hair very silky. Although I don't use conditioner every single time I shampoo, I've been using this about once or twice a week, and I'm still using the first bar I bought! It might even last another year. I have a crazy large amount of hair, so the efficiency of this bar is a very welcome bonus to the already high quality. I absolutely recommend this conditioner for both quality and unexpectedly amazing value.
I love this conditioner bar and I kinda don't. It's hard to decide how much to apply I often end up with not enough in my hair. The container for it rusts really easily, so I keep it in the window by the shower instead. When I apply the right amount to my hair it really makes combing wet hair easy. It also really brings out my curls. I'm just going to believe I need time to perfect my use of it.
This product takes longer to use than your average liquid hair conditioner. However, in my humble opinion this is an excellent all natural hair conditioner, leaves my hair feeling silky soft after I blow dry. For whatever reason, if I do not blow dry, I do not get the same silky feeling. It also does not have a perfumed after scent. The scent is barely noticeable. If you have long hair and wash daily, I have found this small round bar does not last long, maybe a month. For reference my hair is 24" long. (Just a few inches above my waist.) I will continue to buy it.
Wonderful product. Use VERY sparingly. A little goes a long way. You may feel you don't have enough product as you're working your hands through your wet hair, but trust me...you will notice once your hair has dried. Very nourishing. Very pleased. I will be purchasing this conditioner bar again in the future.
