I am disappointed with the build party of this product. In fact it just appears to be their mounting head on top of a generic gopro adapter. The biggest problem is that it wobbles, as the two parts are just being loosely held together by a screw. I ended up super gluing them together for a more secure connection.
what disappoints me the most is that this is the official adapter from Cygolite. There are other third-party versions, such as from Corki, that appear to be molded as a single piece. I thought first party would be better quality though, but it seems I was mistaken. If you haven’t purchased this already, look into one of those other ones instead.
Just about all my headlights and tail lights are from Cygolite. They work great, the light in picture is a good 7 years old and still work as new. This Gopro styled adapter is very convenient and works great, on those days (or nights) that you don't use your GoPro or Garmin cameras. Keep you cockpit clean!
About the only negative thing is the price (reason for 4 stars). Cost almost ten bucks for this, while I think it should be about $5. Or included in all headlights Cygolite sold. But it is the only trusted adapter out there to mount your Cygolite to Gopro mount.
Just mounted this up and completed one ride so far. Gets my old light (Metro 420) off the handlebars and out front under my bars (also bought a Ritchey C220 stem GoPro adapter). Stable so far, angle can be adjusted by hand while riding. Very clean setup and seems secure.
I mounted my light under my edge bolt computer. This item allows the light to be mounted with a GoPro type mount. I like to ride with my hands close to the stem sometimes and with the light out of the way I can do that. Also I have aero bars on the Gravel bike (I know, don't judge me) and the light stays out of the way for a really slick setup. I will never strap a light on my handlebars again!
I was looking for a way to mount my Cygolite front light in the middle of my mountain bike (using the standard bar clamp means the light is off to one side). I had a stem cap that featured a built-in Go-Pro mounting tab, and this Cygolite adapter was my solution. Installation is self explanatory, and within seconds I had a center-mounted Cygolite headlamp ready for evening rides.
Ok...so I never held my light in my mouth...but this allowed me to remove my light mounts and easily mount my light to my Barfly bike computer mount. It holds my light nice and tight with no worry of it slipping out.
