Style Name:Dark
Kaplan Premium Dark Rosin is packed in an attractive case, designed for easy one-handed use. A dial at the bottom of the case allows the rosin to be turned, to avoid creating a groove, if desired.

4.0 out of 5 starsLovely Rosin but the fancy box isn't what it should be

Although this is advertised primarily for violin, viola and cello, I wanted to see how it faired for double bass and I am happy so far. It's of course personal taste with Rosin but it arrived in superb condition and sound and feel are perfect for me as an all-rounder.
I am disappointed with the box that supposedly makes this rosin so special. Upon discovering this product I was excited as the whole idea of a handy pop open box I could use with one hand was perfect for the kind of work I do (largely in the pit) but the box actually doesn't open properly and I end up having to use both hands anyway. the rotating dial is a cool gimmick but not necessary and mine actually doesn't work very well as it gets stuck.
Had the box been what I expected this would be 5 stars and I couldn't bring it down any more because the actual rosin is lovely. I would recommend your electric and double bass all-rounder players give this a try.
Bought many of them for myself and also for my violin students and After using it for few months I realise that it is demenging the bows; day after day making the sound get weak and weak... one of my bows is not even producing sound anymore.... very disappointing as it is quite expensive...
3.0 out of 5 starsNot good value of money won't recommend

This is the dearest rosin I've ever bought! And the swival bar came off yesterday by itself so the whole rosin came off and dropped on the floor and smashed! What a shame! I spent big money on the swivel trick but it failed a few months later even though I used it very few times. Won't buy it again.
5.0 out of 5 starsDark rosin really makes the cello sing

Accidentally put this on a violin bow which made the G string on the violin vibrate too much. However, when applied to a cello bow, it gives it that extra friction that really makes the cello strings sing. Even for an 8-year old boy doing grade 2!
5.0 out of 5 starsVery good, love the low dust and packaging

I've bought this previously and will keep doing so. I believe it's advertised for cello but it's just as good for violin. The appearance of the dark rosin is superb, although not why you should buy it, but fortunately, it performs excellently too. Have no problems with applying it from the container. A big benefit of this particular rosin is the low dust, it's more pleasant to use as a result, less cleaning of the violin. The fact it comes in a closable container is a real bonus for storage and carriage. Obviously, there is a price upscale but will never go back to a cheap rosin.
