Daniell Koepke is the author behind the Internal Acceptance Movement (I. A.M.). In her first poetry collection, Daniell gives voice to the fear and anxiety, as well as the perseverance and strength, that has been fundamental to her own personal growth journey and the path to deeper and more meaningful self-love and acceptance. In her own words, this book is for “the 17-year-old Daniell who was convinced she was worthless; who was convinced she would never survive or amount to anything. This is for the friends and family who never stopped believing in and supporting her. This is for all the people who feel that they have to shrink and hide who they are in order to be loved and accepted and worth something. This is for anyone who needs a reminder that you deserve to take up space in the world and that you are enough.”

One of the best self help books I've read, like carrying a friend around with you.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 December 2019Verified Purchase
This book is just like a friend so many of us have needed when we are not putting ourselves first. It is just pages of compassion. The book is not targeted at any one health condition it is can apply to anyone who is being too hard on themselves.
However the first page is dedicated to her 17 year old self so I do think the best audience is teenagers and 20 somethings suffering with anxiety and depression. My advice would be read the writers Tumblr blog. If you like some of her posts you'll like this as a small book that can fit nicely into a small bag during tough times.

Perfect to keep on your desk
Reviewed in Canada on 6 November 2021Verified Purchase
It’s thinner than I had anticipated. When I got it I read a passage and it seems like the perfect pick me up when in the throes of an anxiety or panic attack. This would be great to keep on a desk at work, it’s discrete and has no title on the spine and a very minimalistic design.
UPDATE: I read a passage every morning. I love this book! I bring it to work with me every day!
