These used to be the best socks, worth the money. Now they're just the same polyester merino mix as all the rest. Dunno when they changed them, but mine from a couple of years ago are the absolute perfect socks. These are meh. Fine. A bit expensive for what they are. I was searching for the old darn tough socks and these are just not it. Sad face.
These socks are predominantly grey, not the greenish hue all over as they seem to appear on the website photo, so I’m a bit disappointed.Grey socks remind of school gym classes in the dim and distant past ! Hence my lower rating.
Comfort and quality great as usual from Darned Toughs. I think the Amazon photo needs changing to truly reflect the true colour ... i.e. in my opinion, drab. I’ll definitely pay attention to the colour the next time I buy Darned Toughs.and I’ll go for brighter colours.
I gave the socks two stars, one star because they are warm and one star because they dry fast. But I think the texture of the socks is too rough and rubbed my skin raw. After one four-hour hike, I had a blister forming on my left foot. And on the second day with an eight-hour hike, the first blister tripled in size (growing around a blister plaster) and I got a blister on the other foot. The blisters stuck to the socks, so at camp I soaked my feet with my socks on, hoping I could then remove my socks. And even then, the blisters still stuck to the socks and both blisters tore off when I removed the socks. They was VERY painful. I had to take a day off from my four-day hike to let my skin heal enough to put my boots back on. Thankfully, I brought one pair of my favorite hiking socks, which saved my hiking trip. I wished I had not considered the positive reviews of these socks and had not worn Darn Tough socks! They may be tough and durable. But they are NOT socks you want to do any real hiking in! Sleep in them, but do not hike in them!
So far I’m loving these socks. I am a size 10 women’s us shoe and the large fits snuggly but isn’t uncomfortable. The sock stays up in my boots while walking and it doesn’t make my feet hot or sweaty. I am thinking I might get a pair for my family members (and another for myself). My only sadness is that it doesn’t come in infant or toddler sizes as I would love to purchase these for my 2 year old!
These socks are the best! Really worth $30. They feel cushioned/thick but don't make my feet overheat. Gave a 4 on durability because they are starting to pill a bit, but no holes yet. I wear these with my Blundstones because all my other socks start slipping, these ones stay on and up. I have 7 pairs now.
My wife wore these (several pairs) on a recent 60 km Cape Scott hike. She loved them. Right balance of cushion and comfort. She's normally very susceptible to blisters but didn't get any this time (but she did also use Leukotape, etc. as a precaution)
These socks are absolutely the most comfortable I have ever bought. They provide excellent cushion for power walking and hiking, wash up well and the heals do not wear out like most other socks (including Smartwool socks). I highly recommend them!
