For six bucks though, what the heck. I'm keeping it and using it for bread...."Most" of my slice will be good.....but there is probably something better out there.
UPDATE: I figured out how to use this darn thing to slice bread well, as I hoped it would do. I put the bread on a cutting board, on top of a thick (folded) towel, so there is a "drop" from the edge of the cutting board to the counter of about an inch. I put the loaf of bread out beyond the edge of the cutting board (in mid air, to overstate it!) and cut....the knife keeps on going and when it finally "stops" on the counter (its the guard that hits, not the knife), I've cut through the whole slice without having to wiggle, twist or do anything but keep a straight even slice. I cut several slices at once doing it this way (feeding six men at a time), so it is easy.
Strongly recommend. I took those other bread slicers off my "wish list". This is small, handy, inexpensive and works great.
