I purchased this rolling suitcase for my 3 year-old nephew - he won't get it until Christmas, so I won't know for sure how good it is until then. He is a huge Cars fan, and he adores Lightning McQueen. When I first saw pictures of this suitcase, I will swear it looked as if the bottom half of the suitcase was hardshell, and the top half was fabric. Unfortunately the whole thing is fabric. That may not be a bad thing, but it was a definite difference when I opened the box and so my first impression of this bag (also, it was shipped without any packing materials inside the case so it had lost some of its shape) was not good. Once I pulled it out and did a trial run with clothes inside of it, which restored the shape, I was much happier.
Some more specifics - the wheels are average, they are not as nice as the Spider-Man suitcase I bought for my other nephew (which is a hardshell). The handle pulls up and down easily so it should be easy for him to manuever and use. The fabric seems strong, and the zippers are smooth. It easily holds 21 size medium tank tops, so I would equate that to 21 pieces of child's clothing, but my math could be off. :-) The highlight of this case is the design - once it's puffed out to its right shape, it is just too cute as the spitting image of McQueen. From all angles you see a cute replica of this Cars star. Also, the top portion has a zipper compartment into which toiletries (or toys) could be placed to separate them from the clothes, I really like that feature.
Overall, I'm sure my nephew will love this case, and it seems like it will hold up for the amount of time he'll be using it.
