Day Two - I am not convinced there are 65 sayings! So far I have counted 35 to 40. Hmm. Looked at reviews and someone said - change the batteries before you get all the functions. So done that. No difference - maybe some new ones will come along when we're not expecting it. As for changing the batteries - nightmare. But easy when you know how. Couldn't find the instructions. Tried unscrewing the two screws on the back and immediately the screw threads were wrecked - slight panic. Looked up on internet how to do it - apparently in newer models these are false screws and you take the jetpack off to get to the battery cover. This took me ages as I was scared of breaking it. Here's what you do. 1) Pop the wings out. 2) put your fingers under base of jet pack (where it says 'Danger' and 'Jet Exhaust' and gently start easing it - after a few gentle eases the top starts to move and come out, then pops off. It is held in with two lugs which then press back into their holes when you replace it.
The best bit so far was when Buzz went on the potty (we are still having the odd potty training exercise in the mornings) and said 'that was a good adventure'!
My son has all the toy story ephemera and this Updated Buzz Lightyear is going to prove a no disappointment.
He has many more features than the original Buzz - and now comes with an interactive mode. When you shout at him he asks you not to shout etc...he has other play modes aswell including a sensor which can determine which way up he is during play flight. His voice is remarkably accurate and clear emulating the original.
Large Pop up and out wings with interactive lights and noises, a helmet that makes noises when you open and close it as buzz interacts with the movement. Fully poseable with ratchet type arms and legs, he pivots and turns at his waist which previous Buzz lightyears did not.
Excellent play value too - robust and well made. His many new features make him much more entertaining.
He is well worth £50.00 but I was lucky to get him when he was reduced for a few short hours through Amazon itself.
Very popular this chrstmas (2009) I am very confident that my son will love him. Recommend even at the full price...
Some people have slated this. I don't get it. All I'll say is, read the instruction manual that comes with it, if it starts doing odd things, do as the instruction manual says and change the batteries. Oh, and if you change the batteries, use the right sized Philips-Head screw driver in good condition or else, of course you'll round a tiny little screw like that that holds the battery compartment shut. Honestly, some people!
Buzz will happily stand unaided and his body is well articulated - though I wish that his arms had slightly more movement.
A great purchase! and with a saving vs other toy retailers too!
