Tap the touch-sensitive surface once for the 8- minute mode, twice for the 20-minute mode. A blue light appears on the ceiling. Gently synchronize your breathing: Inhale when the light expands...
...then exhale when the light retracts. You may notice that the exhalation is deliberately longer. This will help create a sensation of tiredness which is conductive to falling asleep.
At the end of the exercise (8 or 20 minutes) Dodow switches itself off. You’ll be in the ideal body state to fall asleep naturally, in whatever position you like.
Slow your metabolism down
By synchronizing your (abdominal) breathing with the pulsing light, Dodow progressively takes your breathing down from 11 to 6 breaths per minute.
The rate of 6 RPM is also used in what is called cardiac coherence exercises. According to several studies, the rhythm is the rate that maximizes stimulation of the baroreflex.
The (very) slow breathing rate, at the cardiac coherence rhythm, really slows down your metabolism and your body will be completely relaxed.
Reduce your flow of thoughts
What's more, concentrating on the pulsing halo on the ceiling has a hypnotic effect. Dodow’s soft blue light (brightness < 1 lux) allows your body to relax, without inhibiting melatonin production. You can choose between the 3 different brightness intensities.
You’ll keep your brain busy with an activity a lot less distracting and exciting than the thoughts that are keeping you awake.
The individual having difficulty falling asleep may not have the power to stimulate an effective relaxation response on his or her own. Dodow is easy to switch on, simple to use and placed near the bed, making the process much easier.

who has been a shiftworker his entire life and struggles with his sleep.
He was very pleased, being able to use his Dodow in the middle of the night when he struggles most, getting back to sleep..
I have been encouraging him to try meditation, essential oils, and and a range of other remedies for sleep. Dodow has made it very simple to get my Dad to experience all the benefits with a simple machine.
While it has not ‘cured’ his sleep deprivation, I am very happy he is getting sleep back he would normally miss out on.
Very affordable and worth a try!
When we got the dodow I put it on the 8 minute cycle the first night and lay down with him. After the 8 minutes was up he woke me up and asked me to put it on again. :D. I put it on the 20 minute cycle and he was asleep within about ten minutes. Second night I put it on the 20 min cycle and he was asleep before it ended.
I would not say it is an overstatement to say that dodow has gone a long way to saving my marriage.
Her sleep patterns have changed and the pill popping has now stopped unless extreme circumstances. Would I recommend this product - Most definitely!!
Love this product and what is does. Thank you so much!!

Yes I use breathing techniques and guided mindfulness meditation techniques. All do have an impact, however this device is so simple to use and if it works for you it really works well.
I can best describe it as a subtle sleep strategy. Initially you are aware of the blue light and its various light levels. What happens is with the changing intensity is you feel a gradual relaxation in the body. Your eyes feel a little heavy and your breathing slows down. Then it happens!
My eyes start to respond to the light intensity and start to close as the light dims gradually. Before you know ir your eyes are shut, and you are ready to sleep.
I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a simple approach for a sound sleep.
**Take it for what it is. THIS IS NOT A CURE. It is essentially a distraction technique that helps you escape your thoughts through intentional breathing. It calms you and allows your body to fall into a natural sleep. It isn't a magic cure and it requires dedication to the process. If you can't commit to something like that, then this isn't for you.
**It is battery operated. If you're an earth friendly household (like us), I would recommend simultaneously purchasing a set of rechargeable batteries.
**It doesn't work well when it's directly against a wall (on a nightstand, for example). The light kind of gets distorted on the wall instead of projecting onto the ceiling. We have a bench on the end of the bed we put ours on that works just fine. A larger piece of furniture would also work, but something that sticks out atleast 2 feet from the wall is my recommendation.
Hope this helps!!!
So I am sure you can imagine that in the evenings when there is Les background noise the electronic hum that is my tinnitus drives me crazy!!
For years I have been going to sleep with my iPad on and headphone in my ears but the light bothers my husband.
I have tried all sorts of techniques and even medications to help but nothing seems to work except the headphones but I wanted to minimize my screen time and the sounds. As I am typing this my tinnitus is doing a number on me big time !
So when I heard about DoDow I thought, heck I’ve tried everything else, may as well try this.
I couldn’t believe it, it’s like a cross between a hypnotherapy session with the breathing and meditation, sure I could still hear the electronic noise but I fell asleep the first night ! I thought this has to be a fluke but it worked the 2nd night and then the 3rd! And I’ve been using it successfully since.
It’s not a lot of money to pay for a good nights sleep and my husband is using it now too as he gets up a few times during the night and this puts him to sleep too.
