I have been a jackson browne fan since the 1970's and have all his albums. What is stunning is the energy and consis.tency of the man.Not only is "Downhill from Everywhere" up there with the best, musically, but the messages he has ,for a better world and a better way of living, are more relevant now, than ever.
The band is tight, rocks along beautifully, on "My Cleveland Heart", "Downhill from Everywhere" ,&" Until Justice is real ".
In contrast, there is a lovely spanish/Latin feel to "A song for Barcelona".
Jackson has always been known for his ballads however, and for me the stand out track, up there with the very best,
is "A human touch", dedicated to the amazing staff who set up one of the first Aids wards in the US, in San Fransisco.
Its a sensitive lovely duet, with the talented Leslie Mendelson.
Here in the the UK, I would like to dedicate this song to our wonderful, dedicated,NHS, and for what they did during the Coved crisis, and particularly as Jackson himself, contracted Coved. The lyrics speak for themselves!
"Downhill to everywhere", not only proves Jackson, still has "fire in his belly", but his messages here on environmental protection, social justice ,exploitation.are as strong as they have ever been, without being "preachy "!
Jackson's, is the voice of huge concern, but also of reason and hope, for a better future for our children and grandchildren to inherit.
Now, more than ever, we need to hear that voice!

At 72 this man is still turning out fantastic music. Have been a fan for years and he rarely fails to impress. This album is beautifully recorded and the songs are all killer no filler as they say.The voice has hardly aged. I have already listened to it several times.
Brilliant, just brilliant.

Jackson Is Running With A Full Tank!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 August 2021Verified Purchase
The best album since I'm Alive and every track is a winner. Please do not think it is comparable or similar to Late For The Sky as one Vine reviewer commented. If you are a fan you will understand this but if you are not then definitely add LFTS to your collection. The new album has everything in every track that appeals to most music lovers. There is definitely no filler to be seen. This will endure as a go to Jackson album. Try to listen to it several times and you will appreciate the quality of the songs, musicianship, production etc. This does not deserve anything less than five stars and certainly not three!!

Jackson Running On Empty
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 July 2021Verified Purchase
The last few Jackson Browne records have been disappointing, of course we'll never get another Late For The Sky. After a few listens several songs stand out especially the superb 'Minutes From Downtown' the rest drift along the title track is more upbeat but lyrically I'm not sure what JB is telling us, certainly downhill from Late For The Sky - unlike his last 2-3 records I'll persevere. Love and the Environment are strange bed fellows.
