A good story for telling in front of a fire, on a cold winter’s night, with a bunch of friends. Adventure ... good vs evil ... with a good dose of romance.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters and world were interesting, and the story line really captured my attention. It’s not the same characters as book one, but the storyline’s cross over.

Everything I write about Grace Draven is biased because my rose colored glasses are glued to my face when it comes to her and 3 other authors!!! This is a flawless second book in the Fallen Empire series, followed on so well from the first book, just sad the last page has been read!!! I could go on about all the characters and how well I fell into the story but I'm not good at that, find out for yourself how fantastic a storyteller Grace is!! I'd give this 10 stars if I could.

I love Grace Draven's books, I just wish that they were all also available in paperback version instead of kindle. This book is the sequal to Phoenix Unbound. This is Halani, the magical trader healer's story. Halani, helps a wounded man at a fair, not realising that Malachus is in fact a Draga (dragon) in human guise. Malachus a 400 year old dragon is unable to turn into his dragon form because he needs what in called the 'motherbond' in order to do so i.e. a bespelled claw of his mother, and he has been tracking 2 men who stole the claw from its hiding place. The dreadful Empress is also after the motherbond as she wants another dragon skeleton to hang over her bed and wants to be healed from her wounds. Lovely read.

Good, but not as good as the first

It was an interesting further instalment in this 'empire' series. The main characters are well-developed, but their thoughts and fears become a bit repetitive sometimes. The action could have proceeded at a brisker pace, but well-written as always.

Grace does it again! Another fantastic read and escapism to indulge in.

I have yet to read a story from Grace that I have not fallen for and this is no exception.

Enjoyed it

I was very happy when I saw that Grave Draven had written another book to follow Phoneix Rising. This one seems gentler and slower in many ways but I still enjoyed it.

Loved it

I was eagerly anticipating this sequel and was not disappointed. The lead characters are different from the first book but the original pair do feature so you get to hear a little more about how they are getting on. Loved it!
