Every now and then we have been swayed to purchase some no name or generic brand due to a lower cost per battery and in every instance those generics have either deteriorated in the original wrapping long before their shelf life expiration date or leaked into the electronic device in which they were being used, again long before the exp. date on the battery.
My family trusts Duracell and the procell option has the best pricing we found and with Amazon Prime shipping options, the purchasing decision was made easy.
I recently ditched my rechargeable and decided to use these for my speedlite. The first four I put in did not work, so I tossed them and grabbed the next four. They worked for about 5 hours during a wedding reception than died. To be fair, wedding receptions can be a little flash intensive. Than about 3 weeks later I receive an external speedlite battery in mail. I go to plug it in and notice flash won't turn on. After replacing several sets of batteries I look inside at prongs and see a battery leaked, ruining my flash. This means I must replace my flash ASAP for work and that I need to buy new batteries as I cannot have another expensive flash ruined. ERRRRRR
Off the top of my head - to give an idea of frequency - I would say about one in six (maybe 1:8) of the ProCells I have used over the past 3 years has leaked inside something.
