This book will challenge you in the most positive way. You will need to reread this numerous times if you don’t understand parts of it and this is the whole point to change the way you think! Buy both the ebook and audiobook. The narration of the audio will keep you engaged. The ebook/book is your reference book. JUST BUY IT and stop procrastinating.
I almost didn’t buy this book because of some weird bad reviews I kept reading “repetitive” and “nothing new” and stuff like that, then I came across a quote from the book and it was “real emotional maturity is how thoroughly you let yourself feel anything. Everything. Whatever comes. It is simply the knowing that the worst thing that could ever happen… is just a feeling at the end of the day.” and I said to myself “I am getting this book” and I did. From the first page to the last it did not disappoint one bit. What people meant by “repetitive” is that you’ll find concepts and topics to overlap to each other and of course they will! A chapter talking about self love it has to include pain and vice versa. I read this book in little less than 2 weeks as I was going through a break up, omg it was truly inspiring, it made me look inside my pain and asking myself questions I have never thought about before. I honestly changed the way I view so many aspects of my life right now, get this book!
I got this book cause it seemed like a good read. I am a couple of essays in. I think the names really hook you of each essay, but at least the first 5 essays that I have read are mostly in lists (and skimming through the pages, most are), and seem to keep say the same message over and over again. This book won't change the way you think, cause the other doesn't change the message. To sum up the message and save you the money and 400 pages of reading, break your routine and don't be afraid of things that scare you - it means you care. Also, take charge of the way you feel.
I love this book . It absolutely changed how I perceive the world and myself and how I can improve on myself . Bare in mind when it’s says 101 Essays That Will Change the Way you Think , Brianna was not kidding . I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a change of books something more critical and informative!!
i havent finished the book but it is not what i expected. some of her points i completely disagree with, which is always ok! but she is so negative and straightforward about some topics and anyone impressionable may believe her which is not good. like she simply states that none of us are extraordinary. that's not a very positive outlook hahah we should all think we are extraordinary in our own way!!! and some of her essays are just obvious statements about humans and she doesnt elaborate and how this point changes anything or means something
I bought myself this book for this years summer vacation-- I wanted some new input and had heard a lot about the author and this book in particular. I loved the way she writes, it's very informal and flow-y, and overall the book really does get you to reflect about your life and think about things from a new perspective. However, I wouldn't say the book really has "101 essays", seeing as a couple of them were only lists of things/questions/quotes which was nice as a change, but not really what you were expecting, & a lot of the essays were very overlapping in their messages and ideas. A couple sentences were the exact same in multiple essays, expressing the same idea, with the same example, over and over again. It felt like you'd read some of the essays before, just in a different order of words, if that makes any sense.
Overall I still loved the book and the ideas presented, so it's deffo worth a purchase!
I'm not much a reader. I do not enjoy reading. But I love learning. Especially learning about myself and the life we live. Brianna Wiest reminds me of people like Brené Brown, who are able to change your entire perspective on life with just one brilliant sentence. This book perfect for people who want to understand themselves, their emotions - why they feel a certain way. Why things happen to (actually "for") them. It keeps me grounded, helps me through heartbreak and motivates me, when I feel like I lost my path.
I really never wrote a review but for this book I would write one over and over again. It is amazing and eye-opening. I read a lot of book that should change my way of thinking etc. This is by far the best. You learn about yourself and others and you really change the way you think! This book is a must!
