This is NOT a cutting disc from a chop saw.
This is a metal blade with teeth, so if you force the blade down onto box iron or angle iron, ofcourse it's going to wreck the teeth, I've made around 2000 cuts of thick walled 50mm box, I know this as I needed 4pcs cut at 45degrees to weld as 200mm x 200mm squares x 500 for a project we were doing,
Not only were the 45s perfect, there was no burrs to grind off so made for easy welding and perfect squares.
And all you do is, use a feather like touch to cut into the steel and once you are 'into' the steel, then you can apply a tiny bit more pressure, but you really don't need that much, just remember to go really gently at the start.
Cuts through like butter.
Fitted this blade and it cuts through really easily. I made over 100 cuts through 2mm box section and this was still cutting okay.
I would suggest that if using this blade to cut metal, you definitely wear safety goggles or even better a face shield. There is a lot of swarf ejected by the blade at high speed and one of these in the eye will really ruin your day. Its not like cutting wood.
I used a pair of rigger gloves whilst cutting, one to operate the saw and one to shield the blade from ejecting the swarf material. I used the clamp to hold the workpiece.
It was actually a carpenter who first told me about this problem with the evolution discs. I had actually dismissed his advice as whilst cutting smaller pieces of CLS timber, I found the cuts to be straight and true. All this changed though when I needed to cut some wall plates. Not one of the cuts was accurate despite a brand new blade being used.
I am now searching for a stronger blade with bore reduction rings to fit the unusual 25.4 bore.
This blade? I've got 14 cuts in 30x50mm 3mm box section and 4 cuts in 50x8mm flat bar, and that's it given up today.
Disappointed doesn't cover it.
This blade has that 25.4 mm bore diameter which is required for Evolution and i know most other blades come 30mm with the adaptor but it just isn't worth the effort and potential moving around of the blade. This is study, effective and then very accurate when it comes to using the saw you have. We attempted to use the adopter previously and it just felt unsafe and really diminished the power and accuracy of cutting making simple joinery tasks near-on impossible to be accurate.
I scoured the internet for the cheapest for this exact blade and this is where it was. I would buy again.
I would recommend getting this blade for definite if you have Evolution Saws or any saw that uses the 25.4 mm bore diameter.
