The springs of my kids trampoline have come away from the mat meaning it was down 2 springs at once.
Using the awl and one of the waxed cotton reels I sewed the webbing that held the spring 'loop' back in place, and it has still held a couple of months after first doing it. I have also repaired another couple of springs in the same way.
The awl manages to go through the 4 layers of webbing easily (ish) and with some practice sewing is fairly rapid. I cannot comment on the strength of the needles as I have not used them yet.
The actual tools are smaller than expected wondering how fragile they might be? i will buy more substantial tools when I see some! The thread is fine and good to know they are already waxed. in the past I had to always wax the the threadsI used. Very much a beginners kit!
Really handy heavy duty sewing kit for the price. Thread was of decent quality as I used the kit to strengthen a couple of handles on a leather backpack and golf bag where I could see points of weakness. Thimble really came in useful but did break two needles getting my tasks completed, but couldn't complain for the price as the kit has potentially saved me me more than it's cost. Still plenty of thread and needles left for future projects.
A useful range of coloured threads and the needles also useful. But the tools are way too small. I only have small hands but they feel to me like a child's toy. Be aware that the 21 pcs includes each needle counted separately even though they come as a pack.
I think this is good value, however, I bought this to repair some damaged hide on a fur I owned and I think the thread was far too thick, this clearly was not what I needed for that job but the items themselves seem pretty good, the fault was with me and not the items
Nice set of thread and tools. If you can't get the thread to go through the hole in the needle just use a needle threader.......they're really cheap to buy. It's wonderful to be able to fix leather, shoes etc.
Everything is great for my little project except two of my needles snapped :( I don’t even have thick leather! They were the most useful needles for me too. I wish there had been more. So, I’ll have to buy more needles now.
