Over a year ago I had a watch that was similar to the Fitbit. It boasted similar abilities and I was happy with it right up until it died about thirteen months after I bought it.
I missed having it so much that I hunted for it again on Amazon. It’s no longer for sale, and I realised that I would have to cough up a bit more to buy this Fitbit instead. I can tell you I wasn’t happy with paying this much for something that I had purchased over a year ago for much less for what I believed to be the same abilities.
Well, I got my FitBit and downloaded the app from the Apple Store and couldn’t believe how much ‘more’ I was getting for my cash.
Also, the quality of the watch far surpasses the old one I had.
The battery too seems to last nearly a week; my old one never lasted that long.
Cannot recommend this highly enough. Like I said, I just bought a second one.
The Alta HR doesn't have a stair climb monitor, but that's OK because it wasn't terribly accurate anyway. I've discovered the fat-burner & cardio tracker on the heart monitor is a good trade off.
It took me a while to get used to tapping the screen to navigate as opppsed to a more conventional "swiping" gesture, but thats a super minor detail, and once you are used to it, you barely see it as an issue.
Great value, solid, and surprisingly can take a bit of abuse (just dont shower/bathe/ swim eith it, as it isnt waterproof)
However the step counter does not count my steps while I am pushing a pram or a shopping trolley which currently accounts for a good deal of my daily walking even at seventy two!
Fitbit need to read the marvellous book 'The Invisible Woman' and adjust the product accordingly.

We took it for a brisk walk and the distance and steps reported we almost exactly as my Apple Watch. Activating the device takes getting used to and its worth watching the online demos but after a few days it becomes second nature. She hasn't tried the sleep feature yet as she tends to take it off when going to bed so not sure how that works.
She really likes the automatic detention of activity so she never has to tell the watch what she is doing. The web site is also great so she can get a quick overview of her weekly progress.
A great way to motivate you to exercise and move, it also intergrates with some iPhone apps so now it reminds her when to drink water.
Would defiantly recommend.
Added to that, it seems to have problems syncing with the android app - works sometimes and not others for no apparent reason.
All in all, a nice device, slim, functional, but needs a bit of work to improve it.
This is such a shame as I do miss it, also I am now left with an expensive tracker that I can no longer wear.
The actual Fitbit was working very well and helping me to increase my exercise. However, unless this ongoing issue of the fastener being unreliable , I would not advise anyone to buy one. I only had mine for 4 months. I will not buy it again.
For the price it is great, but for those wanting more there is an entire market full of bluetooth smart watches so my advice would be to look around prior.
The real winning feature of this device is how well it connects with phone. When her mobile rings she gets a vibration on her wrist as well as a display of who it is on the fitbit screen; this is fantastic for those days when you've had your phone on silent.
