I thought this book was going to be about dynamics abs be a useful tool for my piano students… it’s not. What it does do is introduce the different musical families…. But there really isn’t much that would make it interesting or fun to children… it’s heavy on the words without being entertaining… not only that…. But piano is a percussion instrument…. So I’m not sure why it’s in its own category. What’s more is that there is no plot and the little plot there is is full is holes….

The artwork is cute and engaging, with personified instruments that still look close enough to their real-life design that children will be able to recognize the real instrument when they see it.
