I don't know about these Elder Sign expansions. The last two, including this one, have been duds with us. The last one was super hard and not fun. They've taken the Streets of Arkham mechanic where the location cards are double-sided with something triggering when you first go there, flip the card, and then go to the actual location and not done much else. The double-sided locations was a novel twist and much enjoyed, but it just seems like they are out of ideas.
This one introduces relics which are basically souped up rare cards that can be one shots or can stick around if the matching relic is in play with another player which makes them very powerful. There's also a sideboard that alters the game state to give you perks for the rest of the game. They can be sacrificed for further gain in some other area, or lost because of a bad mythos event, etc.
There really isn't that much difference between this and the last expansion, imo. They are starting to blur together. Definitely buy it if you love this series, but just be prepared for samey stuff.
Omens of the Pharaoh is another great add-on to the ever growing Elder Sign line of games! I love the Egyptian theme. I'd rate this the best of the new expansions! However, I still recommend getting Gates of Arkham FIRST! If you like how that expansion changes the base game, then get all the others!
