5.0 out of 5 starsKnow your Why, How and What for individuals or organisations.
Reviewed in Australia on 3 February 2020
Leading with WHY has a deeper, more emotional and ultimately more influential value.
Use stories and themes to create a Why statement: To (contribution) So That (impact)
For large organisation Why statements can be nested down to individuals.
Having a valid why and that is shown and practised creates competitive advantage.

1.0 out of 5 starsDefinitely not my first choice for finding my raison d'être
Reviewed in Australia on 6 March 2020
It might be good for a large organisations but I could find little of practical value. It seems to be a summary of one of their workshops and looses a lot in the translation to the printed page.
If you are looking for this type of advice it may pay lo look elsewhere.

3.0 out of 5 stars (3.25) Discover, refine and articulate your “why” by following precise steps. But, a few caveats.

Find Your Why is basically the sequel to Simon Sineck’s Start with Why. The latter book helped readers to achieve fulfillment by understanding why they do what they do. This begs the question: what is your why? If you read the first book and haven’t figured it out, this is where this book kicks in: it’s a practical guide that shows individuals (or a group) the specific steps to take to find their why.

On the one hand, this book does exactly what it promises. The authors draw a map, hold your hand and take you along a path and guide you to a destination. There, you should have produced your personal why statement: “to [your contribution] so that [your impact].” Your why now becomes the chief organizing principle of your life and/or your organization. The process will typically take as little as a few minutes to as long as a couple of hours.

On the other hand, for those who already read Start With Why, there is very little new content in this book. (And, depending on whether you are doing these exercises as an individual or a group, you will end up skipping half of the text.) Yet, the grand irony is without the first book, I don' think there’s enough substance in this book alone for the reader to properly understand the importance and power of why. The result is that you produce a why statement that is subpar.

The one point I will make is that the content here is helpful beyond the scope of business. Anyone can use the advice contained in these pages to understand why they do what they do and thus live a more fulfilled life. This applies, for example, equally for the entrepreneur, the person who is perpetually frustrated in their job, or the creative tinker who is curious.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent if looking for a "How to" manual - I was not...

This could have been a great follow up to the Start With Why discussion but was not for me. This book seemed like more of a "How to" manual on holding individual and group discussions in line with the title. I was hoping for additional insights from Simon Sinek but was somewhat disappointed to hear mainly from others who work around Simon. There were some good thoughts and insights but the book was largely not what I had hoped for.

3.0 out of 5 stars Presentation & Approach Contradicts Intent

This books makes valid points with finding higher purpose & fulfillment, but then contradicts itself by giving the reader a how to tutorial, saying that "your why" needs to go through a workshop & has to be the step by step process outlined in the book. This books undermines itself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better off watching Simon Sinek on Youtube!

VERY repetitive. Highlights some companies that do it right, but after a while...ok I get it. Just spins these companies with some anecdotal gems to notice. Far more enjoyable and powerful to hear Sinek speak. He is truly and outstanding speaking. But reading the Find Your Why and How's and such are a bit painstaking to trudge through.

I believe this would be a great book to walk through with a partner to help you, but I don't have anyone to help me with it, so I haven't really benefited. I wish it had had more of a solitary approach included with the other options.

I guess I didn't read the description closely. This is geared for a team collaborative effort....not individual. I like Sinek's work, just not the book I was expecting.

I like the book, it really help me understanding my why and how. I have an online small store and lately I felt like I hated and it wasn’t what i want, my why was totally not clear which make me lost but now am more aware of what i want to do, how to do it and most importantly why. I believe i can make a difference.
