Having Green Thumb Troubles?
Have you ever been disappointed with the performance of your plants? The pH level may be the problem. Plant roots absorb minerals such as nitrogen and iron only when they are dissolved in water. Now if this soil composition (mixture of water and nutrients within the soil) is too acidic or alkaline, some nutrients won't be dissolved, and as a result, they won’t be available to plant. If the pH isn’t close to what plants require, some nutrients, such as phosphorus, calcium and magnesium, can’t be dissolved in water. And since plants drink their food instead of eating it, if the nutrients aren’t dissolved first, the plant can’t absorb them. Thus, your plants, flowers vegetables and garden won't grow or produce to their full potential. Most nutrients that plants need are readily available when the pH of the soil solution ranges from 6.0 to 7.5. Below a pH of 6.0 (acid): Some nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are less available. Above a pH of 7.5 (very alkaline): Iron, manganese, and phosphorus are less available. Please check pH level recommendations for your types of plants.

Nice because it isn't disposable, doesn't need battery. Just clean the electrodes (and scrub if one gets oxidised)
I checked all my plants within ten minutes and found my camellias were way too alkaline! No wonder they weren't doing well lol
When I messaged them about this the seller wanted me to send photos of proof which means I need to buy other products to prove this doesn't work? Rediculous.

I will test against litmus-paper referenced liquids to see if the meter can be calibrated in a manner that one could apply an offset that proves consistent across disparate liquids. Stay tuned :)
Update May 2019: turns out that the PH meter doesn't work in liquids but it does in soil. My tests of the accuracy of the PH reading against litmus paper confirmed it's accuracy in disparate soil samples e.g., black earth, clay, garden soil sand. I was 'very' surprised to say the least. Gone from two stars to five.
Has made a big difference to my watering regime, especially tomatoes in very large containers.
I wouldn’t assume the pH meter is scientifically accurate.
Same item can be obtained more thriftily by heading to your local store that rhymes with Bilco.
How many handfuls of lime should I spread on my supermarket orchids to assist their slow decline to morbidity
But at least I can now do it scientifically.
Lacks the feeling of solidarity, and feels fragile, but it looks impressive, and suggests to my lady dates that I know what I am doing and actually care about my wildlife .
I am not by any means confident that its other measurements are accurate.
