Brilliant book that as main food provider has actually made me LOOK FORWARD TO COOKING!!! Lots of easy delicious recipes which pretty much my whole family have loved (barring the boy who likes plain boiled rice on its own but that’s a whole different thing!)
Bought this for a present - now I have to buy another for myself. It is absolutely packed full of wonderful recipes. Although not total vegetarians we eat mostly vegetarian food in our household, with a little fish and meat. These recipes are very inspirational, full of good ideas and easy to source the ingredients and cook. I already have far too many cookery books, but this one is a must now that I am about to give it as a gift to my vegetarian neighbours.
This book had a range of recipes in and I can’t wait to try more. I tested out the biryani the other day and it was super delicious. I’m trying to eat more vegetarian dishes and I think cooking dishes like these are the best way a there are such a range and I love Indian food! I do have a problem when getting takeaway with food being too spicy so this works out perfectly for me cause I can adjust the spice levels. Can’t wait to try out mor recipes!
The recipes in this book are the freshest and most vibrant tasting Indian dishes I have tried. Made a selection for New Year’s Eve and the non- veggies wolfed them down too. The whole roasted cauliflower and the grand vegetable biryani are just delicious although I hold back a bit on the powdered chilli quantities as they are just a touch too much for us - but only a little. I like the way there’s not too much reliance on yoghurt and cream sauces, uses ground almonds to thicken sauces which is really delicious. Can be used for quick week day meals as well as more grand dinners. Will be well used!
My partner and I have been living off this book since we got it. Every recipe I’ve made so far has been delicious. Nothing too weird in terms of ingredients either, just wonderful food. A tip: where recipes call for ripe tomatoes, make sure they’re ripe, and if you are using tomatoes in winter here in the UK, buy ones from Spain, Sicily or Portugal. They have way more flavour than the ones grown under glass further north.
The recipes in this book are amazing - the flavours are just incredible and everything I have made so far has turned out superb. I already had a well stocked herb and spice cupboard, but a quick trip to the local indian shop to top up with the more unusual ingredients and I was ready to go! Recipes like these make vegetarian dining an absolute joy!
I bought this because I enjoyed 'East' so much. The book is good to look at, as is East. I like Meera's chatty, practical prose-style. I like the way she often gives a family or experience context to her recipes. I find her recipes easy to follow and the end results invariably packed with amazing flavours. I'm working my way through the book, but already have so many favourites that i know I'm going to be cooking again and again. I'm definitely a fan!
I was looking for a fairly easy vegetarian Indian cookbook and I'm so glad I found this one! There are many different recipes to choose from and each one of them unique. They are easy to follow and ingredients can be found in the supermarket. The photography in this book is incredible!!
