First the pros:
-super easy to use (button lock)
-great weight retention on the heavier leatherman
-the locking system (sliding the cable into the notch) is hard to do one handed from a 6-730 position on my belt (left hip/buttock)
-to remove the aggravation of the ring clip rubbing my finger/knuckle while using the tool I felt it necessary to add a short section of bankline between the ringclip and the tool
-the belt attachment point is easily bent and does not appear to be for everyday use. This may be due to my job (Firefighter/Paramedic) causing undue stress. I still found the clip to be unreasonably weak and if it were not for my tool actually being secured in a pouch it all would have been lost.
-For my everyday use I love the idea but find it unacceptable as I have found the clip bent or simply popped off my belt on multiple occasions. I am actively seeking a solution or a better option as tethering the tether to my belt seems a bit of an unnecessary overkill.
-Attached inside a pocket on my PFD it has worked flawless. Saved a good pair of shears from “swimming with the fishes” over the side of my canoe. Albeit that this use is a much softer use of the product.
I cannot in good faith recommend this as a hard use item that the Gerber name is known for (I have various great Gerber products). But I can highly suggest it for “softer” safer uses in which your attachment points won’t see much friction.
