Review
5.0 out of 5 stars | Excellent tool for beginners! | By Scottish-Mermaidon | I am very pleased with this purchase. I am a beginner at guitar and have found this book very good for getting me to grips with the chords. The book shows all chords from more than one position, which is great as there are a few ways to play each chord. The chord diagrams are very clear thus easy to understand. So much so, I also recommend this for the young beginner. It's good if you want to teach yourself or if you wish to use it to compliment professional lessons. Personally, I am teaching myself and have found that using this alongside the fantastic Garage band guitar tutorials is a great combination and I am learning very quickly too. It is quite a thick booklet but not a large book so won't take up too much room in a bag. As other reviewers have also mentioned...it is ring binded meaning it is easy to leave open to glance at whilst your hands are occupied with the guitar. I recommend this to anyone who plays or wants to play guitar. Amazon 5.0 out of 5 stars | Best chord book | By A. Thomason | Simple as that easy to read and navigate, even for those who get numbers and letters mixed up one chord picture per page with a few more advanced ones added in the back, spiral-bound (who would want a paperback that closes itself all the time?) if you need a chord book, this is the one. Amazon 5.0 out of 5 stars | Great book! | ByBigBoolson | Really clear to understand chord book, the fact its spiral bound is awesome and makes it easier to leave open on the page you're viewing. For the people who say its not clear to understand and doesn't teach anything, its not a tuition book!! Its simply a chord dictionary!! I've had a few chord books, this is by far the best one. Amazon

The book would have been better printed in A4 showing all the note scales on one page, instead of having to turn the the page and look for it, apart from that the book is good.

pretty good, but not perfect (a complete, honest, review)

Okay so I just want to say that I'm not a beginner to guitar, I think this book would serve beginners incredibly well and even just people who don't know their fretboard very well. The book is easy to use, a good size for carrying in a backpack and a great little thing to carry round. Its easy to read and understand, it tells you how to read the diagrams at the beginning if you dont already know how to and its a book that could really help you if you're just starting your guitar exploration. This review is harsh, but in no way is it a bad book.
However as an intermediate player looking to become more of an advanced guitarist, I must say that this book isn't everything I thought it was. I bought this book expecting to find 4 voicings for every chord but it simply doesn't. The problem that I have is that for me, this book is just showing you the same chord shapes over and over, but on a different root note (hence why I think this is a great book for beginners or people who need to study their fretboard). Unfortunately, this book only shows 2 chord shapes for every basic chord, and then as the chords get more complex, we only see one chord shape per chord which kind of bums me out a bit. I was looking to expand my knowledge of chord shapes and this book did that to a degree, but not as much as I was hoping.
My second problem with this book is that It doesn't tell you directly which intervals are which. It tells you the notes of the chord and what the corrolating interval is, however it leaves it up to you to figure out which note is which in the actual chord shape. Some people may see this as a good thing as it kind of makes you think about your fretboard and figure it out on your own, but with me already knowing how the fretboard works, personally I find it a bit of an inconvinience.
Overall, if you're within your first 2 or so years of guitar playing and don't know much about chords, then this book is probably going to change your life and become your best friend from here on out. If you've studied a bit of music theory, then this book will still aid you and probably help you snap to your chords a bit quicker and aid your understanding of the fretboard. But if you already know multiple voicings of most chords and are looking to expand that knowledge further, then maybe this isn't the book for you.
Ive heard they do an advanced version of this book which may suit my needs better, but have yet to check it out.

Wonderful!

This is a great book which obviously allows the reader to find many arpeggios for themselves as well as the many chords. To me it and the book that comes after it (Advanced Guitar Chords) are staple requirements for the chords that I like to find. I have not found a better chord repository in book form (which I much prefer) anywhere and I don't expect to either. The diagrams are perfect, the best that I have ever seen. It would be impossible for me to make any complaints against these books, they are simply brilliant. I am not the author, I do not know the author, the publishers or any other body which could sway me into giving these books any thing other than absolute top marks.

Really useful little book.

Easy to find chord layouts as helpful reminders. Like the fact it's a ring binder so easy to lay flat. Small enough to have alongside music but large enough to easily read.

Basic B7?
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 June 2020Verified Purchase
It claims to be for beginner/intermediate but where is the B7 chord first learnt - index finger first fret D string other 3 fingers 2nd fret A string, G string and high E string? It isn't in my copy and no way of knowing if the page is just missing as the pages aren't numbered. Leaves me wondering just what else has been missed out

Easy to use

Bought this for my son as he's beginning to learn guitar....I already play but thought he could use a handy book to keep about to pick up chords here and there when he gets chance.
It's easy to use and clearly printed...as to the easy to carry?? pffft....not really....it's small but clumsy...a little heavy for him but he does like using it.
I was expecting a thinner book and a lot lighter...
Other than that it's a good book for the price...
Based on my experience I would recommend this product. Thank you :O)
