The main reason that I switched from using an Inkjet to a Laserjet, other than the fact that I've always found HP printers to be reliable and to have good print quality, was to spend less on printer consumables. This toner cartridge, being an official HP one, is somewhat dearer than non-branded compatible cartridges, but I've been really pleased with it. The print quality is excellent, and as I come to replace it again, it's lasted far longer than the estimated page yield.
The secret to this yield, however, is to completely ignore the printer when it starts showing warnings that the toner level is low, and thus needs replacing. On my m251n colour laserjet. I've now gone for over four months since this warning first showed; I print roughly 50 sheets per week, so this works out at almost 900 printed pages since the warnings first started. If you can put with having to override the warning every 100 sheets, this is well worth doing. The print quality is good, it won't cause any problems with your printer (as I've previously found to be the case with non-HP toner cartridges), and if you carry on using the cartridge as long as you can and ignore all the warnings, it'll last for ages. Recommended.
Its certainly expensive enough to be the real thing and my HP software authenticates that it is indeed the real deal
Apart from quality of real Toner cartridges vs. copies - my experience has been that the real ones tend to work better, HP also allows you to recycle your old cartridge for free, providing you a shipping label you can print, stick on the box and send your old one back
I may try and have this one re-filled and see what the software says, but wanted to leave a review so people know it is a genuine HP cartridge and they aren't being ripped off - well not any more than the usual rip-off that is the printer industry
Bought and sold by amazon not third party. The HP cart was Original as you would expect from Amazon, Toner cart 131x gave me 2865 prints in black average print coverage of 6%. The warning of low toner came on when page count hit 2500. printed a further 365 until i notice the first sign of toner fade. with another shake of cart i will probably get another 120.
Page count information can be found by typing printer ip address into your internet browser, ip address can be obtained looking on the screen of printer and touching the network logo
example on internet explorer in the address bar type 192.168.0.22 then press enter key on keyboard, than select supply status.
Please share your print counts, does any one have the count for a 131a cart? like to know the difference between normal and high capacity
For the first time since I bought my LaserJet Pro 2000, I recently decided to try an aftermarket toner. Bad mistake - since then I have experienced lines down the page and a general reduction in quality. From now on, I'm going to be sticking with the HP OEM toners, despite the cost.
I have scored at 4 out of 5, with the drop being a result of the cost and value for money. The quality is top notch, but I wish the cost was slightly reduced to remain more competitive.
The cartridges work as they should. But a) the price is disgraceful, b) the warning that the previous ones were running low (inducing you to change them) came on FIVE MONTHS before they actually ran out, and c) every time I have tried to access the HP recycling website, to obtain the return address label, I am shown an Error 400 message. So very unimpressed with the company.
I always buy the 'real thing' and I am very happy with it, including the cost. I have used others with my previous printer, but I do not want to take the risk of buying a substitute as I cannot deal with the stress of it spoiling my printer, and in the long run, I don't think that you save that much (if any) money. Just ensure you click 'continue using' when it tells you that it has nearly run out, as you can still get a lot of perfect copies. I tell it it is OK a number of times, until it does actually run out.
Absolutely perfect, genuine item. Bought after a fake one started making smudges of all colors and dropping bits when printing black. Once this was installed everything went back to being perfect! Lesson learned, never use fake cartridges!!! Can't comment on longevity of this cartridge but 1,300+ pages as reported SGTM.
