Resulting coffee is smooth and completely lacking in bitterness. I've *always* needed sugar in coffee, but it's completely unnecessary with this.
Easy to clean.
The filter is easy to clean after - just tip the used grounds into the bin and rinse thoroughly in water.
Use your coffee sparingly apparently there's a lot of caffeine in cold brew coffee. The coffee you make in this jug is intended to be diluted when you serve it (at least 50/50 with hot or cold water - you can microwave / heat the cold brew coffee to suit).
I take the filter and coffee grounds out the jug after 24h to prevent any bitterness developing in the coffee. The coffee will last a week or more in the fridge.
Some people suggest filtered water makes a nicer brew. They are probably right. I just use tap water for convenience.
Bought the smaller version as I just use it for myself and it yields two or three big cups of cold brew. Can make iced tea as well as anything else you can imagine and fits perfectly into my small fridge door!
Makes nice coffee. Would recommend for anyone that wants to try making cold brew coffee. Also would be nice as a gift.
One thing, the instructions were not in English but you can just google them. It’s pretty self explanatory, put the filter in, put coffee in, pour water in, leave overnight, remove filter. Done
The jug has made my mother independent again. I am very pleased with this item.
Only downsides are that you have to use quite a lot of coffee grounds and some of them pass through the filter so the drink is cloudy and has a slightly gritty texture (this is the same with all cold brew kits, not just this one).
For its purpose, the Mizudashi does an excellent job if you're willing to wait.
Be aware this is not a quick set up. The time to pour water through the grinds is about 7-10 mins. Plus the overnight wait. The flavour is worth it tho.
