Hard to take seriously

I'm probably just the wrong audience for this book, I was wanting to learn some DIY principles of making body products, but I struggle with taking a book seriously when it starts off by fear mongering about "scary chemicals" by making claims without providing any sources or information for the reader to make an informed decision. It's decent from a basic DIY approach, but it's not really as informative as I'd hoped it would be.
