To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
After a lot of experimenting, I finally got this little unit to work but the range is horrible unless line of sight. Right now I have the transmitter on the upper floor of my house and the receiver in a room right below on the main floor and the signal is good until someone walks past either the transmitter or receiver as it loses signal. I had to move the units as close to each other as possible (less than 25 feet) with only a ceiling/floor between them and at times I have no signal but when it works, it looks great. For those having issues with the IR blaster, take note that one unit says IR In on the top and the other says IR out on the top as well. The IR In one needs to be connected to the receiver and the IR out one to the transmitter. Once I figured this out, it passes the IR signal no problem at all. I just wish this thing had better range when not line of sight but it will still work for my application.
I wanted to connect TV upstairs to downstairs cable box, only 10 feet apart. Literally 1 directly above the other. Picture signal is okay but no sound, only lots of static. Someone said interference may be caused by other wireless devices and to change wifi channel. But boxes are sealed and no instruction on how to change wifi channels
While it was easy to set up and works well most of the time, we have experienced intermittent problems with the screen flashing and the sound cutting out, making it completely unwatchable. It is fixed by unplugging the receiver from the power source and then plugging it in again, but annoying that I spent a few hundred dollars on this solution and it crapped out shortly after the return window at Amazon closed.
Been using for 2 months now no issues. Very convenient and distance as claimed. Will see if it last more than a couple of years. Picture and sound clear as if using HDMI cable. First 2 minutes will show signs of blocky pixels until the adapter and receiver syncs up. 4 stars only cause the rubber footing is extremely long and comes off if i store it in my projector bag. I'll probably go buy some smaller rubber stubs if these keep coming off.
Marvellous system, saved me 60 feet of cable running along the baseboard, over 2 doors and through a wall. How ugly it would have been. Just to cross a 4 foot space. Simply beautiful, thank you who ever invented this.
Cheap offshore Contract Manufactured crap for a product.
Customer service / tech support is worse than the product. The employees clearly have zero idea what they are doing and their employer even less.
Multiple phone calls, replaced units, added adapters and still tech support can't create a wireless connection between the 2 modules of the kit we purchased twice.
Each time we spoke to tech support got totally different & conflicting information and a lot of buck passing. Some of the information we were told pertains to UHF transmissions. When we pushed back with specific technical questions about the UHF functionality of the unit, the tech quickly tried to change the subject.
We've had tech support tell us we need to return the unit and replace it and then call back again. When we told them that we had already done this step once and saw no result, the company "dropped" the call.
If you imagine a group of primates hosting a group sex session with a football, you have a pretty clear idea of the tech support staff at IO Gear.
Overall IOGear is a money pit with a septic attitude. If anything good can be said about this company it's that they serve as a beacon of what not to do when operating a tech company.
I bought this device because I had an earlier version from iogear that I quite like, but ended up dropping one time too many.
The biggest drawback here is the lag, even within 20 feet with unobstructed line of sight. Testing between my regular monitor and my TV, I had an increased lag of asking 150ms, which made gaming near impossible.
So, if you're getting this to stream Netflix or general non gaming content and you can live with your nose feeling like it's in molasses, then this works for that. But there are other products out there for a similar price that are better.
I bought 3 devices and was hoping to use them in our meeting room so we don’t have to run cables. I have tried it with many different computers to rule out computer issue. But no matter what I use 99% of the time I get pixilation in image. If I try to disconnect and reconnect it may get better. Also toggling between different settings like extended monitor/ single monitor can fix the problem, but this workaround is not acceptable since when you have a presentation you just want to plug in and focus on the presentation not how to fix the image. So currently I’m writing this to see if there is known issue with this. (BTW, my 65inch TV is LG brand) I appreciate if someone can write back me and help me resolve the problem. Otherwise I just have to return all 4 and try a different brand.
