The blurb on the packaging informs you that blending whiskey isn’t easy and that this blue label has been carefully crafted.
Verdict: The best thing about this whisky is the presentation box rather than the drink
The flavour of this is non peaty single malt that leans more to the fruit side of things with very little smoke taste whatsoever. It’s very smooth but you can buy drinks that taste similar for a third of the price. EDIT: Feb 2020 - Have bought Green Label and tastes almost the same for a third of the price
It’s mostly hype from a well established name in the market rather than something spectacular.
I picked this up for £113 but I would barely go to £50 for what I am getting. Even the Japanese infused Chivas Regal (turquoise colour box) tastes similar for £30.

Let’s get that issue out of the way right now, yes it is expensive but when you consider the blends that I would put this up against it really isn’t imo.
I’ve had some of the best (my favourite being hibiki 17-21) and I can tell you now Blue Label is right up there with the best.
Straight up there’s an immediate big peat for me that I didn’t expect but welcomed nonetheless, I have to say I was drinking this in a large glass but as soon as I swapped to a smaller tulip glass the peat subsided and a more caramel/coffee taste started to come through, beautiful.
If you want to put this on ice go right ahead as that’s when it becomes its most subtle, you still get the flavours albeit a bit less but it’s absolutely smooth and refined.
All the above is my personal experience but I can say I’m glad I nabbed this at £90 on Black Friday, would I buy at £120....Absolutely!

it is possible that i had a bottle from a bad batch, but i doubt it.
i have bought blue label in the past and this bottle is substandard and will be returned to amazon.
the last blue label was very smooth and mellow while this is harsh and fierce and barely any better than premium blended supermarket whisky at £16 a litre!!! (famous grouse take a bow)
i suspect that the true blue label of the past is now reserved for the deluxe blue label costing around £234 a bottle on amazon.
this bottle is barely worth £20.
if this is blue label in late 2020 you are being conned and ripped off.
you have been warned.
