These shoes fit really well and have great arch support. The leather looks really nice. I was disappointed by how quickly they packed out. After using them for six months working indoors, they looked practically new out of the box. However, my back started hurting to the point I would have to lay on the floor, I was getting shin splints, and worst of all, I developed plantar fasciitis that still hasn't gone away after I stopped using them. I started going to the chiropractor because I didn't realize it was the shoes causing it because they looked so new. But the first day I wore different shoes to work, my back instantly felt better. Breathability is decent. I wouldn't buy them again though.
Absolutely consistent negative about these shoes is the glue that holds them together does fail. Mine started about 8 months in. It's a simple fix but I'm going to assume keen does not want to address. With that being said there are other shoes that are cheaper lasting longer. The only edge I give keen is the comfort of these shoes. But the quality is lacking.
I bought them in May, so it's been 6 months or more. First, it took me a bit to get use to the laces, and the nub on the end....IT DROVE ME BANANAS at first, but i learned to tuck it and wrap it all up in the other laces.....not pretty, but i'm not tryin to bring sexy back. Then when i put my personal insoles in,EVERYTIME i walked, the heels popped out, and leaves irritations on my acheles.....not very fun. So, i wore the shoes, being new, without my insoles.....for as long as i could. They were comfortable and PERFECT for a flat footed man like meself(regular size was actually perfect fit). The steal toe, no problems, other than getting use to the extra weight in the front of my foot, but this was to be expected. I do construction, so i'd say BAD CHOICE for that, because the mesh/breathable area is a hazard. Also feet get wet in rainy conditions. Not a smart outdoor HARD WORKING shoe. But, it holding up as best as it can. I'll make a better choice next time, not the companies fault for me not thinking of the obvious at the time, hahaha
I always use Keen work shoes. They last a long time and I work in a factory 12hrs a day on concrete. The only complaint I have on this particular style is they loosen up as the day goes by. The spring that holds the laces could be a bit stronger. Other than that great pair of safety shoes.
My son started a new job, and needed some comfortable work shoes as he's on his feet most of the day. I got these for him as an early Christmas gift. Once we got the size right (I had to return twice for the right fit), he was very pleased, and said, "Ya'll don't know just how comfortable these puppies are." I think that says it all.
I ordered these shoes a half size big but I think they would have been fine if I got my normal size. They are a little heavier than my normal tennis shoes but that was to be expected. They are also quite a bit hotter to wear. I like the quick lacing but need to figure out how to shorten the laces. Since they are a little big the plastic lace end thingy hits the ground. Kind of annoying,
I've owned a few pairs of the Keen Detroit Low ST and loved them. However, I decided to try something different. My only complaint with that shoe was that my feet were pretty warm during the summer months. This Atlanta Cool seems to be just that. COOL! We haven't hit our hot/humid months yet, but I think these are going to be great. I can actually feel a breeze through the mesh, while walking.
